350 with NOS or build up 455???
Have a question about using nitrous on my 355 olds . Current setup is 11/1 compression with 4:88 gears 3000stall car weighs 3000lbs with driver. Cam specs are .538/.538 244/244 108ramp installed at 102. Car runs at mid to high 12's at 5000ft elevation. 28.00X9 rear slick. I was wondering if going to 3:73 gear and 150shot would be enough to get into 11's. or should i just build up a 11.5/1 461 with Edelbrock cnc ported heads Offenhouser Port O Sonic intake already have. and cam specs 584/601 260/268 108 ramp JE pistons with Eagle rods. I know there is a Huge difference to what I am asking but wanted some opinions or other racers. Car is just a drag car.
It should be easy to spray your way to the 11's with the small block and 3.73 gears. Just watch your tune!
On the other hand, you wouldn't need nearly that combo you described for the big block to run 11's. You don't need ported heads, a big cam, high compression or a single plane intake.
I am running 11's in a 3600+ lbs car with 2500 stall, 3.73 gears, 9.8:1 CR, 230/236 .512/.523 lift 110 LSA, Performer intake, Q-Jet and box stock Edelbrock heads. I shift at 5200 rpm.No need for race gas. 87 Octane is all you need on this combo. Easy Peasy.
I just noticed your at 5000 ft. Well you would need a more aggressive build for that. But you shouldn't have to go crazy.

Thank you for your input Erik. You do realize that at 5000ft elevation I lose 28% of my horse power. Meaning my small blk would run equal to your big block at sea level. That's why you have to run more compression and more cam and timing. Thank you for responding.
