350 Header question

Hello all, this is my first post on the forum. I have been lingering around a few months doing some research. I have a question for a few of the motor guys. My freshly machined 69 350 block will be done in a day or two, got the original #5 heads ported/polished and new springs ect... Lunati 219/227 voodoo, Edelbrock Rpm and a Holley Street Avenger. The question is will i be in danger of valve damage or any-build up in the heads by using stock exhaust manifolds? I intend on headers as soon as my pocket allows it. I just wont have them to break in the motor. Thanks guys, i will have pics of my car and the build up shortly.

Mike

I don't think the stock manifolds will make any difference other than they won't work to well with that big cam.
I'm going to rebuild a 69 350 this year with a little smaller cam and I'm going to use the Thornton iron manifolds I already purchased just get away from the standard PITA header problems and noise.

The only problem I see is you'll have to re-tune it for the headers!

Stock manifolds worked fine on W-31 motors. There's no risk of using them on yours. Obviously you won't get optimum output from your combination, but your plan to upgrade when finances allow is fine. Nothing to worry about. As noted, you will likely need to change jetting when the headers go on for best results.

Awesome! I appreciate the timely response. That was my initial thought but since its my first motor "build" i wanted to check with some more experienced builders. If all goes as planned (crossing fingers) should be rockin and rolling by monday.
