330 gas/oil mix

Hi I have a 64 jetstar and oil gas mix has pushed out of the breather in front of the intake manifold is this a failure of seal or intake manifold?

Check your PCV valve and hose first. It is not a manifold leak. What you have is called blowby, might be a set of sticking rings allowing combustion gasses into the block.

It should be just oil and some smoke that comes out the breather, if your engine oil smells like gas then you need to look at carb issues or the fuel pump is leaking.

no There is no smoke just oil and gas mix shooting out! and its an electric pump so it can't be leaking into the block. what are my options on fixing this problem?

The info I got was the motor was rebuilt and then sat for a few years due to other projects, but as it was shooting the mix out there was no smoke and seemed to be running fine. I didn't know it was happening until I saw it.

If you have a lot of fuel in the oil do not run the engine as it will cause lubrication issues.

If your fuel pressure is greater than around 7#'s you could be flooding the carb. If your float is too high it will also flood into the manifold. The fuel will leech into the crankcase past the rings. Does your oil level on the dipstick show to be overfilled? There is also a baffle that is supposed to keep the oil from splashing up that tube.

Since the engine has not run in a while it may have sticking rings.

I had to add oil so it should not be over filled, I will check to see about the baffle but Ive driven it around before without this issue. If it is sticking rigs will they release or is there a rebuild in my future?

Add a bottle of Marvel Mystery oil (as per directions) to a full tank of gas and see if that helps. Make sure your PCV is good.

After checking your PCV valve smell you dipstick oil and see if it is different than the blow by smell, if the same I would check the carburetor for leak down or stuck float....Tedd
