330 350 engine swap
330 350 engine swap
Hello Olds members, I am thinking about swapping my 330 engine in my 1967 cutlass for a 350 engine out of a 1975 cutlass. My first question os do I have to use the 330 exhaust manifolds or will the 350 ones work? I see the 350 ones have a O2 sensor.and the 330 ones dont. And is there any other issues I might run into with this swap? Thank you for your time
I didn't think there were O2 sensors in 75, but that really is immaterial.
Everything from the engines will interchange EXCEPT the flex plate. Keep the 350 flex plate on the 350 engine.
Use the 330 manifolds, accessory brackets, etc. that are in the engine bay now.

I appreciate your opinion. Nothing wrong with the 330. I was going to put a new oil pan, and oil pump, oil pan gasket, timing chain and paint the 350. The person I bought the 330 used blue gasket silicone, no real gaskets on everything. So I planned to Get the 350 ready to drop right in when the 330 is pulled out. You have me thinking I should just stick with the 330

If you're going through the work, I'd swap the heads, cut the 330 heads .040 to make up for the head gasket and bump the compression. Give the 350 a solvent bath first. Clean the oil pan, reattach it, pour a couple quarts of your favorite petroleum based solvent and prime the oil pump. I just use the cheapest filter I can find for this. Confirm it's flowing through everything. That should clean out the varnish and 40 years of gunk if it's there. Drain and do it a couple more times.
Then, take a couple quarts of bargain brand oil and pump it through the system after you button the motor up confirming all of the solvent is out. Finally, change the filter one last time and dump your favorite high zinc in there.
While you're in there, may as well swap the timing chain....but you're that deep so I guess might want to throw a better camshaft in there. Don't forget the valve springs....and since you're doing that much may as well throw on some roller rockers.....
This added up quick....

Yes both engines are stock. I really wasnt swapping engines for more power. I planned on putting the original 330 on a stand and cleaning it up, make it look nice. The 350 is already out and on a sand. And thinking about doing the same to it just for a quick swap put the 350 in temporally, until the 330 os how I want it
