307 distributor won’t come out

I’m in the middle of switching my 84 olds 98 to non ccc quadrajet and distributor and I took the bolt and bracket for the distributor off and the distributor will move freely but won’t come out of the block is there something else I gotta do to get the distributor out on these engines?

Try spaying some carb cleaner at the base. Work it up and down with a pry bar of sort and keep trying.

The O ring and more than likely the the oil pump drive is stuck in the bottom of the distributor. It will take some finess but should come with some effort.

Use a hammer to gently tap it up and out.

dd,
If you have a minute can you do me a favor and take a close up picture of your old distributor cap where the main power wire plugs in ? I especially want to see the two "hooks" that the connector clips onto.

Thanks,
Bill
