It'll help, but you'll need to dig deeper if you're trying to make it comparable to a 350. I had some of my motor-heard buddies blueprint a 305 block, which had new:

Rings
New main bearing
Lifter bearings
Mail seal
Oil Pump
Distributor
Gasket set
Edelbrock Proformer Cam
Holley 600 Carb

So, I would go with the new cam at LEAST, but you should replace the above if you've got a lot of milage on your block..

Cool

i dont know how you fell abuot engine swaps but heres an idea. im not 100 percent sure, but if it is anything like the other mid 80's gm cars i have dealt with the 307 has a standard chevy bell housing. if it does you could slip a good old fashioned 350 or 400 into that thing then you will have a great base to build your rod from. if not try to locate an engine out of a wrecked olds(pre 1973 preferably) and slap that sucker in there. just a thought, and hope this helps.

Hey there, you can get any 350 or 403 to swap over directly.

Dont be discouraged its prett yeasy to do if you have the right tools and buddys for the job.

If you are gonna swap a new intake on the 307, you may be ahead of the game to get a new cam and lifters in there since the top end is opened. Might want toss on a new timing chain while there too, it doesnt hurt any.
