303 water pump same as 324??
303 water pump same as 324??
anybody clear this up for me? all the parts stores and seemingly readily available pumps.. part no 58-288 they all say they start with '54 324's.. fusicks pump no.W993A says it goes from '49-'60??
The same 1949-62 except for 1953 A/C with very long register, and GMC 370 with mid length register, alloy V-8 excluded. Summit price sold on ebay right now is about the best, Fusick for best hobbyist source service - CW

Johnny hr, USA Parts Supply also list 49 through 62 as all the same on their rebuilds, so it looks as though there is no difference. You would probably be wise to give one or both a call they are good on that type of information also Ross racing on anything your unsure of....Tedd
From 1974 edition factory parts book:
49-62 except air conditioning or F85 Grp 1.069 p/n 382690
54-62 air conditioning except F85 Grp 1.069 p/n 382691
So 303-324-371-394 all use the same water pumps.

If it helps any, here's what's in the 1955 Oldsmobile Chassis Parts Book for group 1.069, Pump Assy., Water:
1953 All w/C.A.C. .................................................. ...................563212
1949 THRU 1955 EXC. 1953 C.A.C. * ..........................566188
* Note- When replacing original production type pumps on 1949 thru 1952 models also order 4 hub bolts 180075 group 8.900. When replacing on 1953 All & 1954 1st type models also order 4 hub bolts 566375 group 1.359.
(Also the water pump repair kits, group 1.002, were separated into two groups similar to the above.)
I expect that the one Fusick shows as W994A (with the larger bearing) was not being produced initially for the C.A.C. (car air conditioning) models. After being produced, in the latter years of the stage 1 engine, it was also applied to the earlier years. I have one on a 1955 model (with factory A/C); it works well. As far as I know, the bearing is a larger diameter and some use a different impeller. I cannot think of a reason it would not also work on a non A/C engine.
