1973 Rocket 350 Build Question

I have a 1973 350 and need some ideas as to how I should go about a mild street strip build without going broke, the engine has about 90k original and has some cylinder wear - (a small lip at the top of the cylinder) - as well as a Head question, will #4 heads from a 1967 330 fit the 350, I have access to a pair for dirt cheap. This engine will be going into a 1986 Cutlass, my friends say I need to just go and get a Chevy 350 and be done with it - I told them if I wanted a Chevy I would have bought a Monte.

Also the intake for the 330 will be included, but the guy said something about the intake being for a divorced choke - could'nt I just use my Q-jet from the 73'

The divorced choke has the choke coil mounted on the intake and a rod connecting it to the carb. You can use your 73 Q-jet with integral choke, but the 330 intake does not have a choke stove provision for it. Your two options are the aftermarket choke stove for headers or replace the choke coil with an electric choke.

Okay - so it is not a really big deal then - I take it that is pretty easy job to utilize an electric choke.
Should I get the 330 intake with the heads or keep my stock 73 egr manifold with the egr opening plated off - Is there an aftermarket intake that works really good with what I am doing.

Depends on your intended use and RPM range. The Edelbrock Performer and Performer RPM are good choices. You can usually find one used for under $100. Just be aware that the exhaust side needs to be upgraded as well.

I already have that stuff bought - I am working from the bottom up, I bought the dynomax full length headers (just the basic ones) - 2.5" mandrel bent the whole way back - Jegster double hump cross member, got a 1986 Monte SS Rear end - 1973 TH350 from the rocket - and all the shinny trimmings (except the valve covers) I am looking for a set of original valve covers that have OLDSMOBILE embossed on them, the ones that were on my 73' were beat to hell, beyond repair

So judging by what I have read those 330 heads should bolt right on my 1973 350, is this correct since the bank angles are the sameor is there other things I need to watch out for other than getting hardened valve seats.

Correct. Depending on how often you plan to drive the car, the hardened valve seats may or may not be required. They won't hurt, but on a car that's only driven occasionally, you may not put enough miles on it to matter.

The factory embossed valve covers were only offered in 1973-74, so they are a little hard to find sometimes.

Great! I do plan on getting the valve seats done just to be safe - I do plan on making some passes on the strip here in Carlisle for the GM Nationals, and some drives with my local Olds club chapter.

Ok, I have the exact same engine combo. 73 350 and a set of 67 330 heads. 80,000 on 350 bottom end. The 67 330 has the same cam angle, but earlier didn't?

I also have the rpm manifold and headers. I just noticed that my manifold has plugs in the crossovers. I bought it used. I assume they don't come this way.
