1969 Supreme 350 - Engine Code Location and HP?
Hi!
This question is for a 1969 CUTLASS Supreme Holiday Coupe V8 350.
Would need some :
1- Do someone of you have a clear pic of where I'll be able to find the engine code stamped?
2- What exact code should I find for a 1969 Cutlass Supreme V8 350?
3- is the engine rated at 280hp or 310hp?
Did find different datas, but don't know which one is the right.
Thanks a lot!
Chris

The '68-'70 350 engines had the same ratings, as in the 4bbl engines (non-W-31) were rated 310 hp and 390 Ft-Lbs torque and the 2bbl engines were rated 250 hp and 355 Ft-Lbs torque.
You have to understand that these ratings were with the old GROSS method that was not very realistic for production engines. For instance, the 1971 350-4bl engine was rated 260 hp with the older GROSS system and 200 hp with the newer NET system.
As for how the engines actually performed on the street, back in high school my '70 Cutlass 350-4bbl with a 2.56 rearend ran neck and neck with a friend's '72 Cutlass 350-4bbl with a 2.56 rearend until the upper part of 1st gear, then I started to edge ahead of him. NOT what I was anticipating at all with the specs saying I had 110 hp more than he had!
