1966 Cutlass Manual trans throttle linkage. There is a (nylon ?) roller on the pedal end of the lever. Is the roller replaceable/repairable? See 1966 CSM page 6C-7, 6C-10 illustration. Roller has flattened and so is now not functioning as it is supposed to I am sure.

Wayne, I don't think they are replaceable, but they can be lubed to roll.
I have this one if you need it, $20 + the ride.

I had one broken on my Red car. I drilled it out, then bolted on a replacement made from a screen door roller. Works perfect.

 

Randy, I had thought about rebuilding it that way. How much of a job is it to take the lever assembly out. The pedal is working by sliding which is not good long haul but it must have been working like this for a while. Did you have to readjust the throttle because of the change in the diameter of the wheel?

The wheel is fairly small, so I don't think it required any adjustment. It is possible to get the pedal linkage out of the firewall, but it takes a bit of twisting and turning. It was easy to drill out the old piece and bolt the new one in using a small bolt, lock washer and nut.

 

For those following this thread, there is one difference I have found.
There are 2 different lengths of throttle pedal rod. One is app. 6" and
the other is 7". I'm not sure why but it is worth mentioning for sure.
It may have to do with auto trans vs. manual. Anyone know?

 

The one for a 4 speed is 6" long. (Must be to get those 3 deuces open all the way......)

 

This is a 1967 manual one. It also is 6 inches to open that big "Quadrajet."

Adam, it looks like yours has a weld to increase the length maybe I am wrong I have been known to see things.

 

Hey Luis, yeah. I'm not sure where it came from. Either from that 66 442 I parted or from a parts stash I got from Woody about 6 years ago. CRS, know what I mean?

I am working with Joe to get some dimensional information to verify some information on the 66 assembly manual page. Your information is very useful. What I will really try to do is fashion a new spindle and roller assembly replacement for mine which has a good size flat on the roller. Great help thanks. Where in Ohio are you? So this is the one Adam sent me. Totally different than yours. You can see the extension which looks like it was well done. I bought it from Adam for the roller parts so I could try to put a rooler assembly together. I will try to get a measurement of the arm off mine. I am not in a position to remove it now.

Old subject but I just picked up a throttle assembly for my 66 for $30.00 plus some shipping. I would like to know if you remember how you cleaned this part up. That said it came out of a Jetaway Cutlass but it looks like bottom end is the same for either manual or Jetaway which veryfies that the page showing this in the assembly manual. So now I have a good replacement because the roller still rolls and has no flat spots.

Mission complete. I tore down the purchased unit and cleaned it up. The Jetaway part is scrap. Lower section with a very nice roller was fitted to the top end of the unit in my car. Wasn't to bad of a job but area is tight. It took about 4 hours total. Glad I have another job off my list. Lever is working fine. Your pictures helped a lot. See you at Alliance. I volunteered to park cars again.
