1964 Olds 330 Cui - Frankenstein Build

Hi
This is Nic from Switzerland
i`m working on a 1964 - 330Cui Oldsmobile Engine for my 1964 Cutlass.
I got the block bored up to 350Cui, got fitting Flathead Pistons (Seald Power L-2320F / for Oldsmobile)
Aswell a Custom Camshaft (45degree, Dur@050 Int.224 Exh.236 / Lift Int.504 Exh.512) using "Regular Lifter" (Non Rollers)
Crankshaft redone with fitting Bearings etc. & everythings fits nice at the moment.

Now i found some Olds 7A Heads. I got those redone too like new out of the box, but here are the questions i have.

1. Question, will these Olds 7A Heads fit with my Flat Top Pistons?

For the 7A Heads i would like to use Harland Sharp Rockers "S4004 AMC/OLDS" 1.6-3/8 stud mount rockers with locking nuts, and Comp Cams 4542-16 5/16 to 3/8 pedestal
to stud conversion studs for an Olds, and Comp Cams 4842-8 pedestal to stud conversion guide plates for 5/16 (Std. diameter) push rods also made for an Olds.

2. Question, does anyone know the pushrod length for best / fitting valve train geometry with the these Harland Sharp Rockers?

Thanks for all your help
Nic

Buying pushrods is the final thing you do when the valve train is assembled you must measure. It is best to get just a little preload on the lifters, just enough to keep the rockers from tapping. If your rockers are adjustable then you have a little margin of error on pushrod length as you can fine tune the lifter preload.

Which "7A" heads? The 1972 heads with the 7A or the 1980s 307 heads with the 7A?

You need to CC the heads and measure how far the pistons sit from deck at TDC to figure out compression. You have a more aggressive camshaft, which will help but may be over 10 to 1 compression. I assume you plan on running Premium gas? What octane is your Premium gas there?

we have 95 Octane Unleaded or 98 Octane Unleaded fuel in switzerland (Europe), but for the goods of the old engine i added always "lead replacement additve" (Liqui Moly Lead Substitute)

The pictured heads should have hardened valve seats. Can someone confirm? The lead substitute won't be needed any longer.

Good luck!!!

All Olds heads from the 1971 model year on have hardened seats, but keep in mind that this is just local induction hardening of the cast iron and not a separate pressed-in seat. The first time you cut the seats, that hardened layer is removed.

That’s RON, different standard than ours. You’ll need to run your 98.

Unless you have crazy lift on a tight LSA then don’t worry about valve reliefs.
And I have access to Olds cam cores, both for flat tappet and roller.
