Hey Jamesbo.. Mr Moderator that you are....

how about a new category for Car show pics..
under the general
You have the club house.

how about a new one . . Car shows / pics..
where one can post information about upcoming car shows as well as pics from attended shows ??

I am for it.
We have the "announcements" section to post show dates and details, but a section for general show pictures would be nice, too.

Another section for general rides / cruises (solo or group) would be nice, too.

Maybe put these under an ENJOYMENT-type catagory! "Shows, rides, and cruises" perhaps.
Besides, this forum is just not resto and repairs - it is enjoyment of our cars!

Then maybe the "announcement" section can be for site announcements, like rule changes or whatever.

This is a great site but it has about twice as many catagories as it needs already. It's very difficult to navigate for someone who only is on here a couple of times a week. There are many catagories that don't get hits for days over even weeks.

Exactly why its a good idea. If you are looking for a show/cruise etc. or just some pics you can go right to the catagory instead of weeding through all the recent posts!

+1 to Rob's well-thought-out articulation of a generally good idea.

Exactly!
There are probably tons of pics already buried in posts that will never be seen again related to car show activity.

As for a message board? Where's the harm? It might centralize a lot of the events that local publicity might otherwise not be noticed. Plus it would give the rest of us ideas of what might be a future plan to attend shows in different areas if the event schedules were globally posted.

I am for it as well, as the season progresses I will also be sharing photos from this neck of the woods as well as dates and locations of car shows and swap meets here.

Just hit the "New Posts" link at the top after you sign in. It shows you only forums that have had new postings since you last signed on. It's the only way to fly!

The "breadcrumb trail" at the top of the page will tell you:

ClassicOldsmobile.com > New User Forums > Site Related > Site Suggestions > New catagory?

Besides, does it really matter? The only time I care about what section I'm in is if I want to start a thread.

Only one thing I would change on the way this is going. Spell CATEGORY properly.

I like the idea, but will you be allowed to post pictures of LS conversions on it? I'm new to the site and really learning a lot, especially from the long-time members who consistently post solid advice. Hope they all stick around as the forum grows.

Slightly off the original thread, but can the mod's collapse some of the less used sub-topics into their main topic? Sometimes hard to know where to post or where to look if scrolling through topics rather than using the search function. I try to research past posts before making the newbie mistake of asking about a beat-to-death issue (best oil, anyone?).

I could live with either option.

Just wanted to mention this board has at this moment,

24 forums

and

36 sub-forums.

If I was the head honcho I personally would prune a bunch of sub-catagories. Its way too split up IMO but I'm going stay away from suggesting changes to the site. You know what happened last time I helped make a change.

I don't think we need another forum or sub-forum.

Just my two cents

X2. Unless I am searching for a specific item. Not that often.

I vote for having a car show/event/pic forum.
