OCA Info

The president of the OCA reached out to me regarding a post I made for the National races here. She asked me about posting the nationals registration & OCA member application forms on CO. Would you all be interested in putting some sort of sticky on an OCA info thread? This would get all nationals info added to it every year so people know whats going on etc as well as contact info and member app for the OCA.

Set up a thread in the Clubhouse Forum and I'll make it a sticky.

I don't know, man. The OCA website isn't much. When you posted the race information, I had to email you because the information wasn't available on the OCA site.

The official 2025 nationals announcement should happen next week. The OCA website should have the info after that, but OCA has had problems with securing a permanent webmaster, so the site is not always current.

Thats because the OCA does not officially make nationals info/registration available until mid February. The race program is a totally different program than the nationals (thats why it has separate registration) and thankfully for our racers the OCA has allowed us to put info out early. As far as there not being information on the OCA site, thats why I posted all info you needed right in my original thread. Right there you had all needed info covering the races including contact info. I did not think about adding the PDF documents but after your heads up we added them to the thread and thanks for that. I understand the OCA website is antiquated and we are trying to improve the system but you are acting like you had to move mountains when in all actuality all info you needed was in that thread. Also you were replied to and situation was addressed immediately. I guess my point is we are working on trying to move forward. You'll see that when registration gets released next few days. So in this new sticky I would also attach the OCA show registration as soon as its released. This would help with any questions one may have about the nationals etc.

No in this day and age, things should be readily accessible as advertised. The race flyer says the information is on the website. It wasn't, and that occurred a month before it was even scheduled to be posted. If you're going to do something f-ing do it right is all I'm saying.
These are the reasons why I can't stand the OCA, and YOUR attitude seals the deal. F'em

Do you ever post anything that just isn't negative? Seems like every thread I read of yours you complain about something. I am sorry the OCA is not up yo your standards. Is it safe to assume that you wouldn't drive from MD to race anyway? My bet is on no you won't. If I am wrong, my apologies. OCA is not perfect but again, it could be way worse. This isn't Carlisle where Mopars show to the tune of 3000 cars with damn near unlimited funds. OCA does what they can. So for the people who are going to the OCA race, swap meet, and show, thank the VOLUNTEERSwho work hard to make it happen. I am sure Flemming442 you will come back with a rebuttal of some type. Fire away but I say most just don't care. Normally I wouldn't post something like but I personally know several people who are spending a lot of their spare time to make a show that YOU and others will enjoy.

This year marks 49 years of membership in OCA for me. It is far better than it used to be, and on a shoe-string budget.

My attitude? With all the shade I've seen you post about the OCA I do believe thats a pot and kettle comment. I had so much attitude that I even thanked you for giving me a heads up on the PDF thing. My point in all of what I said to you is it is super easy to get answers as all of the contact info you needed for answers was right on the race flyer and registration. IMHO you sought out a reason to yet again throw shade at the OCA. The organization is evolving and that does not happen overnight. Changes are being made every year and new ideas are being discussed almost weekly by the planning committee and some being implemented. It takes time man and if you look at the last couple years with an honest middle ground view, you will see those changes are slowly starting to take effect. If I got under your skin that was not my intention. I'm just trying to bring correct info to non members so they know about OCA activities etc in case they are interested.

It takes alot of effort from alot of unpaid individuals to make this stuff happen for sure. You know even with our little 150 or so show it takes some effort. Now imagine 4-5 days worth. LOL

One of my "spies" watching the car at the 2014 race overheard local racers asking each other "what kind of fuel injection is that?" They had never seen Tri-Carbs with OAI, I guess!

I took a peek at the OCA Nationals activities listed for Thu & Fri., something about a trolley ride and only 28 can sign up each day, if I read that right. I'll be racing on Wednesday, but it looks like Thursday will be a wide open day (?).
