Would like to change my user name on site.

Started on this site a few years ago and not really knowing what I was doing I set myself up using my name as my user name. I really would like to change that. Can I do it or should I just cancel this acct and set up another? Thanks for your help.

I've only talked with one member who's done this, and he created a new profile. If there's a different way one of the other moderators will speak up.

John, when Al (formerly shimmer) changed his profile to Al Graff he was able to get the accumulated posts transferred to his new Identity. Don't know if Paul (omicron) had something to do with that. Might be worth a Q to him? I know it's not something that the site wants to promote for the sake of changing names or it would be a nightmare of administrative issues. I think Al's was done as a one time exception.

with a grand total of twenty posts i would say just start a new acct. If he were a long term member with thousands of posts it would be another story. just my opinion.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. Not my call though.

Paul is the one to do this - it's a super-admin job.

Thanks guys, I may just leave as is. I thought I was just missing a way to do it on the user profile update or something like that. I Appreciate your input.

Yes this is the way. Paul (Omicron) is the only one who knows how to link your existing posts to a new account user name but if you really don't need those on your new account just start another.

Its a VERY SIMPLE process to change a user name and not lose any data. You just have to get the admin guy to do it for you.
