Time logged in before getting kicked???
This morning I typed up a long winded reply to a post. By the time I was done thinking it through and clarifying a few statements, I was automatically logged out and the whole reply was lost.
Is there a way to change the length of time I am logged in, or stay logged in at all times until I chose to log out? If so, how???

i always type a long reply in a word document.always...if it takes too long for the site to respond it can kick it and you'll loose it...
its not too bad here, but a few other sites 3 paragraphs and it seems to kick them all the time..
or..right before i post it i do a copy and paste it if it looses it..happens all the time across the net..and is very aggrivating

I Belong to other forums where you can log in and simply stayed logged in. My understanding is that it doesn't take up any extra bandwidth or cause any issues. Its a setting that the owner of this site can chose. My request is that the basic setting be modified to more than 5 minutes of inactive time trigger a kick. Please. Its a simple setting to change.

I just got kicked since my last post, and yes I clicked "remember me." I log in via facebook because I have too many passwords to remember, and to be quite honest I was never set up with one here because of the initial Facebook login.
Its the site.
Then when I log back in, I'm not redirected back to the page I was on. That's nothing but simple settings that moderators should have some control over. Do some digging please.

I've never been logged out involuntarily. For years.
But then, I don't use FaceBook. For anything. So, as Eric says, that may be the problem.
The other thing to consider is that the cookie for a given page DOES time out after a few hours, so if you are replying within a window that hasn't been refreshed for a while (like you left it open last night, and then came back to it today), your reply may disappear and you may get a "Missing Security Token" message.
To avoid this, just reload any page that's been open for a while before you start typing.

Yeah it was set to 15 minutes of inactivity (which I'm not entirely sure why), and it appears it doesn't exactly apply to everybody, since not all of you guys are experiencing it.
I changed it to 90 minutes.

That's a step in the right direction! There IS a place to click "remember me" when I log in through Facbook, but every other time I do it, it doesn't work, redirects me to a second page, and its not on the second page. I'd be fine with logging in the regular way, and hoped a password and login info would be sent to me after logging in the first time, so i could chose either. Now it appears my only choice is to open a second "account"?

I tried doing it through FB and the "remember me' block is in a separate panel. I'm assuming it does not work if you log in through FB. Like I and others said above, we can stay logged in for weeks if we log in directly through the site and click on the "remember me" box..

do you want to PM me an email you want to set up this account with? I can also set up a password of your choice for you as well.
