Pop up problem

Okay moderators, I got a PM from a "new member" asking me a legitamite question about decoding his VIN# since he saw one of my posts regarding this topic. I responded via PM, and I keep getting a pop up that says I have a message from this member. Same message I already answered. Has happened about 8 times in the last 20 minutes. How do I shut this off for good? It's very annoying. Member Name is Jimoldsfan, no posts, joined Mar. 2011. Got the PM yesterday. Chumley

You can turn off the pop-up for new PM notifications in "Edit Options" in the user control panel.
It still shouldn't keep notifying you if you opened the message though?

Exactly. I suspect an issue with setting and then unsetting a cookie, which might be related to the browser and OS combination.
I'd try changing one or the other (one ay be easier to change ).

Close all instances of the browser, reopen, and it should go away. Using the back button or leaving an old browser window open can cause that. It is a minor site issue, not a member issue.

That happens to me too. After I read a message, I have to hit the "refresh" symbol on my screen and then it stops popping up!

It still popped up when I logged on tonite. I deleted ALL inbox items as I could not delete just the one message. I'm running Windows Vista and IE version x.x? We'll see how it goes.

It just happened again after I posted the last reply. How do I use control panel to prevent popups? Could not find anything there to let me do this. HELP! Like being behind some guy in the fast lane who's doing 20mph under the limit and you can't get around him!

Why not just try a different browser, like FireFox or Opera or Safari or Chrome?

If that doesn't work, try another OS -- Like OS10.6 .
