I'm having trouble inserting a picture(s) in a post. I up load a picture and it shows it loaded in the text window but when I post it the picture does not show. Any help would be appreciated.

 

I don't know enough about the site to see why your photos won't post. But until someone who does logs on, would you like to try sending the photo to me and I'll add it to your thread? John

Happened to me earlier today >> #63153. It fixed itself in ~3-4 minutes. IB staff has been noodling about on the site for the past two weeks as it's their test playground.

 

I've tried several times today for over 2 hours and it still won't let me post a picture. I've posted hundreds of them without any trouble. I can upload the picture and it appears in the box but when I submit it will not post the picture.

 

Let's see what happens when I try to post again, right now.

 

OK. I just posted a picture into that post (above); and, nothing showed up.

 

Here's a nasty little CATCH (FUBAR). I just clicked on "Quote" of the previous post where I posted a picture but did not show up. And, you guessed it, it shows up if I quote the message.

 

Well, that did NOT work. As stated, IB staff has been noodling about.

Mike, have you checked the stripe thread to see if you can view it now? Norm, I undeleted one of Mike's posts and all the pictures popped up for me. Can you guys see them? The 1968 stripe thread. John

Something's a muck...don't know what. Pictures are not posting for me, as well.

 

And, then...bam....they're showing up like 10 minutes later? Peculiar and non-conforming.

I undeleted one of Mike's posts. Then I could see them. It may be like Norm was speculating, that it takes 10 minutes for the pictures to show up.

If this is the issue, it might be what's referred to sometimes as reconciliation where the database is not reconciled with the front-end website - e.g. a delay, and there can be various reasons for what appears to be a delay between what is posted and the ability of the database to post the image - they're not in synch for some reason.

 

Well, my image of time stamp above just showed up. It appears the issue is a delay between what is posted and what can be viewed.

 

My picture also showed up, I did send IB a pm earlier.

 

This process in database language is most likely the result of a faulting "re-indexing" database process. Re-indexing (or simply indexing) is crucial to these types operations.

Example: You go to the library to find a book. The book is not where it's supposed to be. The book is sitting on a cart on the 4th floor. It's not on the bookshelf (where's it's supposed to be). Re-indexing is the process of librarians (staff) taking those books from the carts and putting them back on the shelves where they can be found.

EDIT: This process is expected to flow seamlessly by the database 24hrs/day 7 days/week. It's a crucial process esp. for a site which hosts this many images. IB will figure it out.
