Members by Address, Members by year of Oldsmobile
I've been trying to find a way to learn who has similar year Oldsmobiles and who are Classic Olds members in my area. It's the never ending search for parts, for How'd you do that? etc. Members with cars from the 40s for example or Members who live in Oregon and Washington. So far I can't find it. And while I'm whining, is there not some way to set up the member information above like a relational data base so I could make a query like city, state, year of car, resto or rod etc.
I do like the site and Citcapp has been very helpful as have a few others.

I hear what you are saying. We do have the Classic Oldsmobile Map which can help with locating other members. Since any thing done on a voluntary site like this is 'voluntary' (duh) we don't have all members listed. As far as a listing of members by car model and or year, this is something we really don't have to my knowledge. As you have mentioned, Pat is a wealth of knowledge and has a similar model and year car to yours. I owned a '46 model 76 for a while but don't any longer, feel free to pick my brain for the meager bits of knowledge concerning it whenever you want. We have a few other members too, one with a '40 model I think but I don't remember the user name. If you want to start a registry of names, model and year of cars owned then we could do that but again it all boils down to people being willing to cooperate. I can make it a sticky for you and we could put it in the General forum. Just let me know.
Map of Members
I've been a member for a while and didn't realize this resource existed. Of course I put myself in. I wish more did participate and included their vehicle(s) and some kind of contact information. I had to search a while to figure out how to add detail to the initial information but got it done. I'm not looking to become anyone's new best friend but it is a great resource to identify others with similar cars who might share information. Good idea to repost and see if anymore sign up or will add information on their vehicle year/model.
Lets repost because I forgot all about this. I'm way up here almost by myself!
Oldsguy, do you think you could just add a link near the banner with some kind of map image? Maybe take this out of obscurity?

Forgive the "DUMB question" but I've been a member awhile; BUT had about a "one-year Hiatus" to work on another Masters Degree; I survived it but it would've been better to NOT pursue! LOL~! Been too long since I really HIT the Books/WEB!!" LOL! DOH~!
BUT did anything more detailed ever come of this idea?? (Or, do we keep that Map updated pretty regularly?? I've moved yet again; so guess i need to update mine and if the Newbies on here 'pin up' where they're located that'd be helpful...) Thoughts?
THANKS ALL!

To the best of my knowledge things have remained static. I had to do a search on site to find the map. I agree it would be nice to have a map somewhere on the home page you could click on. I doubt that many new members even realize there is a map and they could pin themselves and their location on it.
I was originally thinking of the great utility of being able to link up members, type and year of car, their location and contact information and asked about that but was told whoever provides the site architecture did not set it up like a relational database and that is what you would need in order to get really helpful linkages. So the big limitation seems to be the site architecture itself.
A few people put in a whole lot of work to keep the site 'tuned up.' I understand this is a volunteer group and people have lives they have to live so have limited time to moderate and/or change the site. Still a darn good site though.

I got a reply from IB. They have been working on a new navbar which they've been adding to sites. Robb (our IB representative) will tee CO up to have that implemented, and will include a link to the zeemaps map in the new nav. The mods are going to be able to see it in the next week and play with it a bit to see how it will fit our site. Then it will go public shortly after that.
The CO member Zee map does not work well anymore as members have either put the wrong location or the map has malfunctioned. I used to promote it but quit a few years ago due to its inaccuracy and difficulty using it.
