Top down weather for the 6 months!!!

My favorite time of the year is starting, warm days and cool nights ahead for the next 6 months or so.
Plan on putting a lot of top down miles on the 425 convertible, the weekly car shows at the Pavilions, numerous Az Olds club activities, Barret-Jackson and the the Route 66 fun run next spring.

Yep, it's almost here. Gotta make it through the mid-90 temps this week, with a possible record high temp according to the forecast Can you believe it was nearly 100 this past weekend?

But we have more daylight hours to play with during our time in the sun.

Here in pa it's almost winter project time. Then in spring you can't drive even if it's nice be cause of cinders.

We've had 13.5 in. of rain here since October 1st and this is just the start. Rainy season usually starts about Nov. 1 and lasts until end of May here in the Pacific NW on the wet side of the Cascade Mountains. Yeah, we do get the occasional day when its just overcast. Not much snow and no salt on highways is the good part.

Difficult to rationalize why I'm doing a convertible build in this country. I just always wanted to own one...and I'm not getting younger.

Today is another rainy morning. Gotta get out and feed my goats. They hate the rain and stay in their barn on these days. Then to coffee with buddies and then back to my shop and keep on working on the 47 Convertible. I so want to get it done and enjoy those few months of sunshine in 2017.

Its 40 deg right now in Brooklyn, NY. I think I'll stay in my warm room. Just be careful opening and closing the top on a cold day. You can crack the material.

Aaaaaahhhhh (happy sigh) - We have our warm days & cool nights starting in CT too. Mid 40* daytime high & freeze warning for the night!

Time to put my 195* thermostat in + block a quarter of my radiator w/ cardboard.

For me temperatures in the mid 90s with our low humidity is perfectly comfortable, I'm leaving the convert boot off this winter so if temps drop to below 70 I can put the top up in no time and still be comfortable. After putting up with winters for decades, no more dark cold snowy miserable winters for me ever again.......

I just don't like being broiled while I drive. 90s are fine after the sun goes down or if you're in the shade during the day.

Give me 90 and low humidity. Better than 90 with 90% humidity. Tucson is still on my radar for a retirement home.

I miss the Pavilions shows. Starting this time of year, you had to plan on showing up around 2PM to find a decent spot to park. 5 and Diner for dinner (is that still there?) and then a quick run up Scottsdale Road. Good times!

I hear ya. I grew up on the Gulf Coast and spent my first 30+ years in SW Louisiana / SE Texas within 40 miles of the coast (can you say swamp?) so I am very happy to be in a dry environment these days. The drawback is since there's no water vapor in the atmosphere to absorb solar radiation the sun is BRUTAL. And it's always sunny here.

Black vinyl seats heat up within minutes and will sear the backs of your legs when you sit down, and those Deluxe seat belt buckles become branding irons. This will happen on a nice, 60-70 degree day as well due to the intense sun.

Here's a shot of Olds night a few weeks ago, every fourth Sat of the month the last row is reserved for Oldsmobiles only at the Pavilions. This time of the year we pretty well fill the whole row with Oldsmobiles, about 22 spaces.

I often wish I had a convertible for these autumnal times.

Weather in these parts has been down right gorgeous, making cruising an enjoyment.

Hard top or no top its nice here in the Ozarks and the ten day outlook is looking good.
