need help on a phenolic carb spacer

im thinking of switching to a phenolic spacer under my carb on my 455 to help stop some heat transfer..here is one i found..but i noticed it has four same side holes where as my aluminum one has them but the other side is shaved on a angle...does it matter the other on doesnt? and if so where can i get a phenolic spacer like that? thanks

The spacer with angled holes is intended to adapt a square bore carb to a spread bore manifold (or vice versa). Straight holes are intended for situations where the carb and intake match. Frankly, if you need a square-to-spread adapter, just get an intake to match the carb.

Joe I think he is trying to raise the carb up on the intake to help a vapor lock.

I have made such out of 2X6 WOOD, use a Q jet gasket for s pattern and in just a few minutes you can have 1 5/8" spacer.

I got that, but he was asking about "straight holes" vs. "angled holes" and didn't appear to understand why they were different.

I think Joe was trying to say that conversion spacers are ghetto engineering, like such.

nothing wrong with a spacer. How is it ghetto engineering when its been proven to work weather making HP or helpting to keep temps down on the carb. I run an open spacer on the RPM intake on my SBO . No adapter Just an open spacer on the spread bore pad on the intake. I also use a heat sheild. Dunno if it works but it looks cool lol. Sad how any people dont know what it is.

The spacer itself is not ghetto, using it as a bore adapter for other than short term kind of is.
