1970 442 W-30 Gold Stripes

I am trying to get the correct color for gold stripes for my 1970 W-30. I know the paint code is PPG 23197, but the paint code sheet does not include a paint chip for the stripe colors. After much discussion with PPG, they came back and said they found the formula and that it is not a metallic color. Are they correct?

Thanks Tom, beautiful car. Your video of the 1/4 mile run is awesome!

It makes sense that the stripes not metallic. I really appreciate your help.

I'd agree, a very pretty paint color combination for such a brutal mechanical prescription...

This shows the power of color.

I never have liked this color, although I'm unsure if it's my least favorite. But the stripe choice completely changes the perspective, making the car quite attractive to my eyes. With black stripes, it would be completely ugly to me.

I agree completely. It's both subtle and eye catching (and no, please don't make me explain that... )

'70 Gold Interior

Tom,
I know this thread is a year or so old but wondering if you could confirm a few things if your W30 is pretty original. I have a porcelain white & gold '70 W30. The interior is original except the plastic seat skirts & backs + the dash plastics has been painted over in much lighter metallic gold. In the attached photo there is a section of the steering column that missed being painted and I'm wondering if this color was also used on 1/. the dash 2/. vinyl wrapped crash pad 3/. metal top of dash (against the glass) 4/. the seat backs, console and other plastic parts ??
The insides of my original moulded plastic seat skirts look to be a different color with a bit of metallic in the plastic but maybe thats an illusion.
If you could confirm colors your car has then that would be great as right now I'm preparing my dash for a repaint.

Here are some pics. The drivers seat has been replaced but everything else is factory. Let me know if you want additional pics.
