Adapting chevy bell housing trans
ok. A guy I work with had a th350 built to stage 2 for a street rod project but now has to sell to pay other bills. I can get it for $600 but want to clear things up about the adapter plate install. I see a few different brands of adapters ranging from about $50-100. Are they all about the same and you are paying for brand name or should I stick to a more expensive one? Then, am I correct that all there is to it is to bolt the plate up to the engine, then bolt the trans to it like normal and it's good too go? Going to a 455. Thanks!

You bolt it to the transmission and yes they are all basically the same. Most kits come with the spacers you need to use between the TQ and the flexpate so it is fully engaged on the transmission input shaft.

The adapter plates are NOT all the same. Some of the cheaper ones only pick up four of the six bellhousing bolts. Be sure you get a properly machined spacer for the crank pilot along with the plate. Note that the second one includes this pilot spacer as well as picking up all the bolt holes. Also avoid adapters like the third one, which includes spacers for the torque converter bolts but not the centering spacer for the crank pilot.

I agree with Joe 100%. I got that second one from summit for about $109.
It's 5/16" thick and it came with spacer washers for the converter bolts. You may want to replace your stock alignment pins in the block with extended pins also. If you can get the old ones out.

I am assuming this is true? I cant afford to go to a unibell im pretty much getting the stuff I have for a little bit of nothing and on a tight budget.

Ok I'm going to order the trans dapt adapter, but am having trouble understanding exactly how this all fits together when reading the instructions. Maybe I'm making it harder than it actually is? Surely I can figure it out once I see it in person lol.ive tried to find pics or video of it installed or being installed but find nothing.
