Jetstar 88 uses 4-3/4 x 5 bolt pattern. Shares it and brakes with Cutlass/Chevrolet.

The J88 confuses even longtime and hardcore Oldsmobile people. What it was, was a big Olds for someone who did not want the big Oldsmobile engine.

I'll admit to looking down my nose at the J88 for a long time, but once I accepted what it was and why it was made, I've come to like them.

I just realized that I made a typo. I meant 53 not 63. I just bought a 1953 Super 88 Holiday but it has no wheels. So I am going to take some tires and wheels with me to go get it. Loading will be much easier.

Yeah, well, not counting the Jetstar 88s. Just to be clear, the 5 x 5" bolt circle was used through the 1976 model year. Starting with the downsized 1977 cars, both the 5 x 4.75" and the 5 x 5" bolt circles were used. Ninety Eights, wagons, 403 cars, and HD brakes all got the larger bolt pattern. Lesser 88s got the small one. Interesting that the 1977 Indy Pace Cars used the small pattern, since they used the SS III wheels, but had 403s. I suspect that they used the larger rotors but had the studs redrilled. I'd be interested if anyone knew for sure.

 

I actually didn't know about the Jetstar 88s.

I know there aren't many aftermarket wheels that fit the B and C body 5x5" wheel. I think Cragar makes a Soft 8, an SS, a Keystone Classic, and a Smoothie in 5x5". The thing about the C bodies is fitting the wheel behind the wheels skirts.

Nooooooo! The measurement of a bolt CIRCLE is the diameter of a circle that passes through the center of all the wheel studs. If the pattern has an even number of studs, then yes, you can simply measure the center-to-center distance of two opposite studs, which is the diameter of the circle. A five bolt pattern does not have two opposite studs. Through a happy coincidence of geometry, on a five-bolt pattern you can measure from the center of one stud to the outside edge of the third stud and come close, but this measurement can vary based on the stud diameter, so at best it's an estimate.



You might want to look again. The 5 x 5" circle is shared with LOTS of popular cars and trucks, including the 1990s Impala SS and many half ton GMC and Chevy pickups. There are thousands of aftermarket wheels available with that pattern. Fitting behind the skirts is simply a function of picking the correct width and offset. Some wheel vendors offer a wide selection, some don't.

Right now I am going to get some junk wheels and tires just to get it loaded and home.

 

All I know, is there are only 3 or 4 wheels Cragar makes that have 0 offset, 4 inch backspacing, in 15" x 7" size. I don't know about other sizes (ie. 16 or 17 inch).

No. Again, JETSTAR 88 used the 4.75" circle and associated smaller brakes. All other full size cars - including Dynamic and Delta 88 - used the 5" circle.

 

They were 5X5. Number one lug center measures approximately 4 7/8 to the third lug center.

One more time...

ALL full size Oldsmobiles from 1959 through 1976 used the 5 x 5" bolt circle on the wheels EXCEPT the 1964-66 Jetstar 88. Do not confuse the Jetstar 88 with the Jetstar I, which did use the 5 x 5 pattern. ONLY the Jetstar 88 used the smaller pattern (5 x 4.75")

I have a '63 Olds 88 2dr HT with Centerlines from Summit Racing and Goodrich TA's.

 

any reputable wheel store will help you with wheels there are many out there, i used to work at discount tire for six years and the choice was hard for me but the amount of wheels that will fit behind your skirts is numerous centerline will build a wheel for your offset as will many billet manufacturers if it is steel wheels you want then most should fit behind the skirt

 

That Delta looks AWSOME! I haven't bought wheels for my 71 98 yet, but I plan to this spring. I might have to check out a local wheel and tire shop for "expert help."

 

I am looking for wheels similar to the Oldsmobile Rallye SS1 but with the 5x5 bolt pattern. Does anybody have an idea?

 

I'm not aware of anyone (factory or aftermarket) who makes a version of that Magnum 500 wheel in a 5x5" bolt pattern. They only came in 5x4.5" and 5x4.75". The only thing at all close is the Buick sport wheel, which was offered in 4.75" and 5" patterns. People often confuse these with SSI or Magnum 500 style wheels, but the spokes are shaped differently.

I think these are actually on the car right now, but in pretty poor condition. Do you know if the oldsmobile patch that goes in the middle of the SS rims will fit on the buick wheels too?
Anybody got suggestions for a black 65´Delta 88 that are classic but look a little more sporty and are maybe available for wider tires than stock?

No idea on the wheel center. I got Torque Thrust Orignals (VN309s) for my 67 D88.

 

All the 1977-1990 cars with HD brakes, including the Chevy wagons, used the 5x5 bolt pattern. The 1977 pace cars used one-off SSIII wheels with the 5x5 bolt pattern. Only a handful were made. According to member Rocketraider, there was a set for sale at Homecoming a few years ago.
