Stick a cherry bomb as far back as you can and chop it off right there.

You won't get pulled over...I promise

Somebody should be able to help you, I'm not an exhaust guy...

Exhaust

Cherry bomb is an old and I mean old school muffler. Long slender and Red. We used them in the 60's and 70's primarily as cheap but somewhat throaty sound.
never straight pipe. Valve damage. You can find Turbo mufflers at most auto parts and Muffler shops. Cheaper than Flowmaster and last longer than Cherry bombs.

Cherry bombs or glasspacks are just a type of muffler. Glasspacks are pretty simple, they are essentially a straight through muffler with a fiber glass material packed around the tube the exhaust gases pass through.

If you have the exhaust shop cut off the pipes right behind the mufflers then it will definitely be loud. All they will do is run pipes off of the manifold, weld in mufflers and put turn downs on the end of the muffler.

It seems that the most popular glasspack is the Thrush, and the most popular turbo muffler is the Flowmaster. Keep asking questions and I am sure someone can get you more scientific info if that is what you want.

My good friend had those purple hornies on an 81 Cam... er I mean... Alero. It had a Che... er um... Olds 350 in it. It sounded SWEET! Even though it wasn't a big block.
