303 Exhaust Manifold Bolts or Studs?
Hey guys,
I bought a set of Headers for my 53 303, they are made by a company called http://noxiouscustoms.com/ when I fit them I'll need to replace the old Exhaust Manifold to Cylinder Heads studs, Fusicks have a set of new studs but don't keep new nuts for them, so I was wondering if anyone does a set of bolts instead for this application? I had a look at ARP but cant seem to find anything, or is it just best to keep with the studs?

If you can find a source of U.S. standard bolts , then 3/8 -16 X 3/4 inch , grade 8 , bolts would be the thing to get . With 3/8 lockwashers .

3/4" + the header flange thickness ?
A place to try over there might be a Harley-Davidson dealer.
I would think they would have them on hand what you need and you wouldn't have to wait for them to arrive.
.....just my two cents worth

I've ordered new studs from Fusicks anyway, just in case! in the meantime i'll try and source a set of bolts.
Cheers Charlie.
Flange is 3/8 thick, so 1 1/4" total to include a lock washer? there are a few good American car parts stores over here, so hopefully they'll have em, waiting for stuff to arrive is a real pain.
Thanks Ralph.

3.90 pounds for each bolt ? YIKES !!!! ARP is good, but you can get by with Grade 5 or 8 carbon steel automotive bolts.
1" would probably work fine. Screw the bolt in to bottom out and check. Grade 5 has 3 lines radially around the top of the bolt head, the Grade 8 has 6 lines.

The OP is i another country (U.K.) and waiting for studs already. The larger hex head bolts will work better to bolt up exhaust headers than the small shouldered 12 pointers that are "half a world away".
