The answer of why the consol was in the other car is easy, you had a lot of parts wanted to keep that consol and put I where you knew you wouldn't accidentally sell it.
Now if you can tell me why I just ordered parts I knew I ordered before but are nowhere in sight. You can let me know.
Taking some more parts to the body shop this week end. Good news is that this time it is only a couple of boxes and not a truck load. AND.....I get to look at a couple of spay outs to decide on the correct shade of blue.
I had to find a different trunk lid for the 442. While the lid looked good, it had a lot of rust on bottom side by the fold over lip. It ended up after looking a couple of other lids, I pulled the lid off of the Cutlass parts car I have. I initially did not want to use it as I knew the Cutlass had been hit in the rear at one time. However after pulling it and removing 1/4 inch of bondo it ain't as bad a I thought. Took it to the body shop on Friday and it fit pretty well. Need some messaging, but looks like itos a better starting point.
That color is beautiful. I bet I get to see her dress before you.
I would not be too sure about that. When the time comes can you say "vacation day". I don't want to be in John hair while he is painting, but I will definately be there within hours after it is painted.😜
I have not posted for a while, work has been absolutely overwhelming at times. (By the way, Why does every time they update the mobile site the reply area gets smaller font. Do they not know I am getting older?).
When last I left, I had taken the 70 Cutlass trunk lid down because the 442 had rust on the lip underneath. While sound, the Cutlass lid beaded some tweaking. For a while I had a WPP (porky pine) package on the trunk.
Here are the latest, she is basically block sanded ready to get one last coat of primer and get pulled back apart to paint the jambs. Here is to color 2018!
I also ordered the pearl interior from Legendary last week, and while it was all suppose to be shipped at the same time; my carpet came yesterday. A early Christmas present for me.

When I ordered my interior from Legendary, everything came at different times. I don't think the gold color is as readily available as the pearl.
Did you order the package tray from them too? I was not happy with mine and I wish I would have installed something different.
I hope the weather cooperates and John can get her painted. To my amateur eye, the body looks super straight.

Thanks Rick. Yes I ordered package tray from them. It is Black, and I opted for the one with holes in it for the speaker. I am not sure if that was a good choice or not. I would like to do something similar to what you did with your speakers. What didn't you like about the package tray?
It doesn't have the "mesh" look like I've seen on others. There's no texture. It is basically a flat piece of thick cardboard dyed gold. I'm not sure the factory ones ever looked like the one I have.
Thanks guys! It is an exciting period for the progress! It is somewhat tempered by an issue on the homefront that is requiring my immediate attention, but that is a discussion for another day.
Eric- When I looked at the two pictures of the drivers door jamb and how different the color looks, I was reminded of when yours was getting painted and you were concerned about the color.
That color sure can change. I will say that I took the old drivers door down that was caved in and I wasn’t going to use. We put a little wax and grease remover on the door to give it a little shine. We compared it to the spray out, and it was really close, almost impossible to tell the difference.
Hard to believe this is the same car I looked at a few years ago. I am amazed you were able to salvage the hood. The nicest part of the car were the fenders. Also, did you ever find out the real color of the interior. We thought it was white but par of the headliner was black, so we couldn't figure that one out

John- interior by code on firewall should have been white. The only posssibiliy that I can see is that it was ordered with a black headliner. I have asked if this was a possibility, and it seems that it might have been a possibility. Who knows. I do not think what was left of the headliner was ever out of the car from what I can tell. I do know that pearl interior had a white headliner (suttle difference) and not a pearl headliner. Maybe someone preferred black if it was going to be different.
looks like a totally different car.. The headliner had me and the previous owner perplexed. what color are you putting back in? I think black as that is how it was ordered

I debated it for a while, but I didn’t think I would like the black as well. The legendary interior with the white headliner is already here at the house and ready to go.
Getting really close! One more sand and seal then she is ready to have color. Approved the stipe code 10 porcelain white spray out today for the stripes.
Hard to believe that is just primer reflecting the garage door windows.
Well the day has finally come. She is in color!!! Body shop guy worked all night sent pics around noon. Granted his phone camera is a little grainy. I can not wait to see it.
Thanks John. I will admit that it was more work than I originally bargained for, but I think it will be stunning when it’s done. I really wanted this color combo.
You do amazing work... The car had potential and the fenders were in extremely nice shape.. I came really close to buying it and using the parts from the one I was trying to restore. I'm glad to see it went to someone who would finish it
I wish I could claim the body work as my own, but in that area I am just the parts and fund provider. Thanks for the compliments, and the finish line is at least
in view now. Still a ways to go, but definitely in view.
