1961 steering wheel redo

Well, you know how things snowball.....While re-doing the dash on my 61 I lucked out and got the Starfire column drop and the collar for my column to replace the shift ring so I had to pull my steering wheel. It was cracked way worse than i thought and since I've already recovered the dash and I'm detailing everything I might as well fix up the tiller. It went real well and I'm pleased with the results.

Here you can see where I ground out the cracks down to the metal and got rid of all the dry spots and the loose material.

So after I expoxied it I roughed it out with a file and then went to 80 grit , 120 and then finally 180 grit sandpaper to finish my repairs. I went to the paint shop by me and had the dash scanned for a color match last fall and had them mix me up a couple of rattle cans to do touch ups with. I shot some prime on it, finished out some scratches and little cracks I had missed and then reshot with primer. A couple of shots of color followed by some Eastwood Diamond clear and its done. I can't wait to get it in the car. Will post pics when i do.
