Hey Alan I thought I could do rims tires this that and the other thing and then drive the car but the motor has blow by and I don’t want to drive it like that and I don’t have the money or the resources to do an engine job.
I’m just looking to breakeven otherwise it’ll sit in my driveway as a flowerpot.

So sorry to hear your frustration, it looks like a decent car. I always feel its easier to fix an engine than replace rust. Did you do a compression check? FYI I drove my W30 convertible with some blow by for 5 years before I could afford to fix the issue. Kind of embarrassing and frustrating at times but...

Also try some marvel mystery oil in there if you don't find the Brad Penn right away

I agree with Steven on the MMO. We have a explorer that was smoking and using Oil.
A few changes using the MMO and it quit, go figure. Runs great and quit using.

Instead of the MMO, try Rislone Engine treatment concentrate and Compression Repair.

I never used it straight but did use at least 50% a few times before engine was rebuilt. There are not many mechanics in can that work but MMO and K-seal (for coolant leaks) are two things that have worked for me. I'm sure with chemical advancements many items like the above Rislone work better than many products in the past. I do think you can use straight MMO but I haven't.

My mistake Johnny. CRS is a bitch. RISOLONE is what we used.

Put me inline for when this car is done, I'll send you mine and you can keep yourself busy with my car. Someone's OCD , wish I was looking for a car right now. There are some nice cars for sale on here as of late for decent prices.

Sometimes the rings will loosen up with some driving. I actually ran some water through my engine to “steam” clean it. I then used Marvel oil and the car ran 100% better. Check the PCV valve operation and block off the EGR port or ensure it is working also. If your PCV isn’t working you will build pressure in the engine and oil will come out everywhere.
Good luck, nice car!

Yea, don’t go crazy with it, just set a high idle and squirt it down the carb without stalling the engine. Don’t go hydraulic or anything. Maybe a cup or two over a couple of minutes.

Never heard of water used either but sounds interesting. I would check the oil dipstick to make sure none got into the oil just to be safe. If it did just change it again so it doesn't cause bigger problems.

No EGR in 1971. Those didn't show up on Oldsmobiles until maybe 1973?

Yes, my 69 had a 73 engine and I chose to block off the EGR. I don’t know what year his engine is.

Running much better, amazing what alittle attention to an Engine can do.
tune up, New wheels, Oil change, painted tail lights, Ordered Pw switch tach glass and new clutch fan on it's way oh and new hood latch, some knuckle head used chicken wire for the hood release. painted grilles argent, they were yellow. should the eye brow moulding be black? seen some black and not. I also tightened up exhaust it was moving around alittle

Also removed bumperettes
not my style rather have holes in bumper
much cleaner look
