Hi all,
I have a mild built 350 that was not running vac advance. I swapped out the original distributor with a pertronix billet intending to run manifold advance. This is where it’s at: initial is 12
32 with can hooked up
50 all in around 3200rpm.
4 speed, 3.23 gears. Starts quick when hot. Pertronix told me the can would add 14, wrong. My concern is the 32; haven’t driven it yet.

What does "32 with can hooked up" and "50 all in around 3200rpm" mean? Do you have the vacuum advance connected for those numbers? If so, disconnect it and set the total to 34-36. Then connect the vacuum advance can.
Set your total (initial + mechanical) to 34-36 with the vacuum disconnected.
From there you have several options:
- Run it with the vacuum advance disconnected
- Connect vacuum advance to a ported source so it doesn't add to the idle timing
- Get a different vacuum can with less advance
- Buy and install the limiter posted above
- Make your own limiter as shown below

I made a limiter using a small bushing similar to the pic below. The advance canister originally gave 24º advance and the bushing cut that down to 16º.

I later made one out of a small piece of metal similar to the pic below and it is adjustable, so I now have it set to 10º.
