not really a barn find but that is the catch phrase right now,,, more of a meth head yard find. has an E headed 455 that has been rebuilt about 10 years ago but has little miles sounds nice, I would imagine around 230-240 degree camshaft, does not smoke, 850 holley, torker, hooker headers, deep pan ,th 400 with deep pan, PS , PB , w-27 cover on the 12 bolt .OAI hood with a few small cracks, bottom of hood has zero rust, nice screen, no air cleaner, w-35 wing, 3892 sebring yellow paint code, 940 black bench seat, CO8 black vinyl top. gay as boys kissing lightning rods shifter.
bench is gone replaced with some garbage buckets, looks like a monkey tried to put gauges in it with a slingshot,,will need compete interior. trunk is decent , dropoffs good, floors need some attention in the front foot wells, rockers inside and out nearly perfect, clean frame.
front fenders are aftermarket and dented, needs outer wheel houses and rear quarters. I have not had a chance to get it in the shop and put it on the lift. drive shaft is busted and I will have one Thursday, so I will get picks of the bottom then.
nice find and I don't ever remember seeing a trim tag with the W35 on it. I think C08 is a vinyl top correct? Does that car have signs of having a vinyl top at one time? The B before PNT Would indicate Black so I'm guessing it did. Still think its neat to see the W35 on there.
Edit: just re read post does say had vinyl top

would the B after the paint code mean black stripes? I believe the hood is correct for this car, it looks to have been painted yellow from the factory. not exactly shure what to do with this car, I dont really have the time or money to do a project like this right now. I have been thinking of selling it , but I don't know what the market is right now. any ideas what this would be worth.

B = black vinyl top. Linden build, so obviously NOT a real W-30. I've never seen the W35 RPO code on the tag either.
He is not saying it is a w30 - just wants to know what the B stands for. Understand it is for the black top; but that is not there and he thinks its an original paint car ... best to chk the pillars for bondo or weld trim holes. Can clearly see its not a rag- top * A = convertible top color which is white. and B black... strip color ? not sure. How about rear defroster ? does it have that?

The "W-30" emblems on the front fenders have obviously been added. The RPO C08 on the cowl tag is for a vinyl top. Either it is NOT original paint or that's NOT the original cowl tag. Pick one.
The Cutlass grilles suggest that the car has been apart before. The Rallye stripes are obviously not factory installed. I can't tell from the photos if there is fiberglass over the rust on the rear quarters or not. The cowl tag says it's a real 442 but every single 1970 442 Holiday and Sport coupe came with the stainless drip rail moldings. Possibly they were removed when the vinyl top was peeled off. The car has clearly been messed with a lot.
yeah, a lot wrong with the car but possibly a real 442 with a seldom seen cowl tag. Even the wheels are 1980s 442 rims, or repos. The bumper is a cut-out and the mirrors are 70 only so definitely some good things
Funny, I never see it in Oak Park - parked outside a bar in Berwyn occasionally and on Harlem avenue. I haven't seen it in over a year as of late - is it still around. From what I have heard he knows very well what it is, which is good to hear, but frustrating to see it in the snow/salt.

well I think you are wrong there chief, paint code is 3893 that is special order sebring yellow, the emblems are w-31 obviously wrong. the vin number on the dash is 33487 and so is the trim tag. so I believe it is an original paint sebring yellow car and the cowl tag confirms this. there is yellow paint under the back seat and under the dashboard that is most definitely factory. 3893 is gm code for sebring/ Daytona yellow must be not all assembly plants used code 51. just because the drip rail stainless has been removed that is your smoking gun this is a phony,,, get real. this car is most certainly had some sort of storied past by a confused rookie restorer. you could not buy the hood and the rear spoiler for what I paid for the whole car.

No one ever said the car wasn't ORIGINALLY Sebring Yellow. That doesn't mean it wasn't repainted THE SAME COLOR when the top was peeled off.
And what part of RPO C08 was not clear? Is the cowl tag correct about the paint color but wrong about the fact that it shows the vinyl top?
And where did I or anyone say the car was not a real 442? All I said was that the COWL tag shows 34487. There are no photos of the VIN tag in this thread.
You really need to brush up on your reading comprehension.
yes the top was removed, did I ever say this car had the factory paint job still on it. joe padavano you can stop posting on this topic. I understand English just fine , if you want to insult me pm me and we can figure out how to handle this.
