F-85 Cross Country Road Trip

My better half and I are leaving Maine real soon heading towards Memphis, TN on what we hope will be a 4 month cross country and back road trip adventure. With the snow flying up here I am tempted to defer some mechanical issues until we get to warmer weather. My radiator has wept for the past 5 years and never seems to get worse... Thinking about heading out with it as is and will be looking for a great radiator shop that can hopefully re-core my 64's radiator. Any suggestions? Thinking West Virginia, Kentucky or Tennessee might be good places to get it straightened out. Thanks in advance for any help!

Follow the Blue Ridge parkway - I loved it. It was tops down the whole way, except for the rainy sections....
Many members here live in the states you mentioned.

Sounds like a fun trip, for sure!

What a great way to get away from the snow! There's a bunch of us hibernating up here. Where abouts in Maine are you?

Right on! We've got 2 others in here from the greater metro Portland area. I envy you taking this trip. I think it is the only way to get out of here in the winter as the planes don't like to fly when it snows!

I'm thinking Portland ME would be a good place to get that straightened out.

There's a radiator place on Forest Ave., on the left hand side when driving out of Portland, a bit past Palmer Spring (which is on the right).

I used 'em once for a '67 Valiant radiator - they seemed okay (boiled it out, but it still didn't keep it cool - bought a '77 Aspen radiator (V8 with A/C) at the junkyard for $10 and it never overheated again ).

Rode the Blue Ridge Pkwy on a Kawasaki Concours in 1999. What a great ride on a bike. Would like to do it again sometime.
