Everything Troy has produced has been the best quality available in the aftermarket based on my experience. I already have a set of his W/Z manifolds on my wagon as my originals were cracked to the point of being not worth the effort. If I wanted headers but wanted to retain a less obvious look, I would not hesitate to purchase, jet hot coat, and enjoy these.

Cutious how well they will flow compared to regular shorty headers. The SBO version is a good idea. Paint them cast iron gray and see if anybody notices.

I see nothing better on these than stock manifolds.

See my comments in this thread. They seem worse than W/Z manifolds and about on par with the crappy tubular manifolds on the roller cam 307s.

Someone who cares about this a lot more than I do...

I run real full length headers on cars where I care about performance, and stock manifolds where I don't. Nothing else makes any sense to me.

The big divot for the solenoid and oil filter clearance seems like a big no-no!!!

Its actually not, there have been examples that dimpled headers do not have much of an effect on performance losses.

The divots likely mimic the shape of the stock manifolds and frankly concern me a lot less than do the right angles and common log design.

They look like a log style manifold that some of the turbo systems use

Turbo systems are much less sensitive to this, but the better turbo installations use real headers, not log manifolds.

Successful scavenging and header design is all about using the exhaust gas momentum to leave a low pressure region behind the pulse that will actually help pull intake charge into the cylinder during overlap period. On a mild cam application (small overlap), the difference between headers and manifolds is minimal compared to the effect with more radical cams (large duration / tight LSA). These new "headers" don't really do anything for scavenging due to the log design.

They likely have larger internal diameter, so they might do a slightly better job clearing out the cylinders, but I doubt it's more than 5-10 hp on a mild combo... the driver's side looks better than the passenger side, where the #8 exhaust does a 180* turn. Will be interesting to see results.

Doesn't matter what we think... they appear to be flying off the shelves, so there's clearly a market for the product.

I agree on the driver's side looking better, closer to an actual shorty header. Even 10 hp would be an OK gain.

Have any of you actually looked at a W or Z manifold - especially the internals? You'll be lucky not to LOSE 10 HP with these compared to the factory W/Zs.

From the source

Hi Kevin;

We totally understand! Just remember we do accept returns as we guarantee satisfaction with all of the products we make.

We just got them in last week and have not run any test but we have a set out now for bench flow test and we also sent a set out to dyno test.

Please let us know what you think of them when you get them....looking for feedback, positive or negative we want to hear what our customers think once they have them.....not so concerned about the opinions of the people that haven't even seen them.

We will also be editing our description to offer some more detail to ease concerns & address the concerns that people are creating, which in our opinion aren't even concerns

thanks again for your purchase

You figure part of releasing an item like this would be performance testing prior to offering for sale. Strange.

Thanks for offering another Olds part. The dyno and flow tests should put it to rest, one way or the other. What size are the primary pipes and the bigger common pipe? I wonder if you guys have considered manifolds or these type of tubular manifolds with the later 3 bolt, straight down passenger side outlet? Thanks again, glad you guys have made stuff for us SBO guys as well.
