I am looking to pick up some 15" wheel hoops that would work for the Oldsmobile center diameter. I have a set of 14x6 bolt on cap centers cut out on a lathe and would like to convert them to 15. The only hoops I can find are for the larger Chevy Corvette style centers.
Can you just get a set of 15x7 snap on wheels and cut the centers out of them and use that rim? 15x7 snap on wheels seam to be common and low priced still.
I have a set of 15x7 snap wheels but I want the bolt on centers. I see what you are saying but I don't want to pull apart the snap center wheels. Not a bad idea though.
Funkwagon, I see mcwheels has the chrome hoops. I did send a message but haven't heard back. I am also looking at building some 15" nova 6 hole rally which have the same hoop and center as the oldsmobile rally.
The nova wheels May looks similar to the olds but they are different.
I think the point was that the Nova wheels use the same diameter center disk (not the same disk, just the same diameter) and thus the hoops are the same.
This thead got me thinking about a source for the SSII/III hoops (bands) again. As have others, I've been searching on and off for a while now. I just happened to stumble over a website for a company called Race Engineering, in Australia. They list wheel bands in 15x8 and 15x10 sizes with a 312mm inside diameter. For the metrically challenged, that is just about 12.25", which is exactly the size of the SSII/III wheel center disk. (Note that the wheel bands that Speedway Motors sells have a 12.625" I.D.) The photo of drop center wheel bands on their website looks promising. I've fired off an email; we'll see what comes of it next week. At this point, I don't even know if they will ship to the U.S. Any interest in a lot buy if I can work a deal on these?
When I first started looking. I thought it would be easier to find them as I believe that the Cragar SS wheels used the same size hoop. The 14 and 15 inch wheels shared the same center disk.
When I sourced the last three ten inch hoops from Jimmy at Rally America, he told me that if I needed more they could probably be sourced from Carlisle Wheel in Ontario California. I'm sure that if they do have them, they would be available in 7"-8" flavors as well. He also had mentioned that they likely only come by the pallet load. This could potentially be a less expensive option for those of us in the USA or Canada..
Think about two dozen or so on a skid. Seems to me that there is a company in T.O. that makes hoops as well. West side, near the Queensway, maybe Atomic Ave.
I think the SS1 wheels are the same but measuring would be a good idea. I want to say all 14" gm wheels have the same diameter but I may be wrong. I wonder if the 14" chevy rally wheel has the same inner diameter.

I have found that Carlisle wheel produces the wheel hoops. Apparently the same hoops are used when making 15" Mopar steelies
Do you have a point of contact? Will they sell them retail?
In Googling Carlisle Wheel, I found that their parent company (the Carlstar Group) also owns Cragar.
By the way, I heard back from the company in Australia. They said they buy their hoops from a source on the east coast of the US, but did not provide a name. Still searching.
The information was found on a mopar forum. One guy was purchasing them from Carlisle in pallets. I have emailed that guy and will see what I can come up with.
