Convertible Top Repairs in Long Island Area?

Anyone have a top done recently in the Long Island, NY area? Need to have mine done. It started separating from the rear of the car and is not in the greatest shape anyway. I'm leaning towards using McCoy's in Woodside, Queens because I've seen there work for years & it's top quality, but they do charge accordingly. The car is a little rough and justifying $1,800 for a top with new glass when you have young ones to feed is weighing on me some. Plus the car is kept out in the weather.

So who have you used and what was the quality and cost like?

I had mine done last year by A & D Auto Upholstery in Brooklyn, NY. He only charged me $600 because we know each other for a long time. The name brand that he uses is Electron. It comes with the rear glass and he didnt replace any other things because it was still in good shape.

That top looks great, Ely. No wrinkles at all!

I was going to suggest R&R Interiors in Plainview. They did my interior and it came out great for a reasonable price. My top needs to be replaced soon and they quoted me about $1500.

I think $1500-$2K will be the going rate by us.

Ely, about where are you in Brooklyn? My wife has family in Bensenhurst, Dyker heights & Bay Ridge.

Thank you gentlemen. Ely the car is beautiful. That green looks great. Top is real nice as well. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and use McCoy's since I work about a 10 min walk from there. I was guessing average price was about $1500. My time is always limited and before I cause more damage, by waiting to get to a shop, I'll get it over there. The rain is flowing in the trunk even with the drip rail. Seams like it always "i'll get to it tomorrow" with lifes pace right now.

Ron did you make the show Sunday?

Got a quote from McCoy's today. $1,500 to $1,600. Left them a deposit & leaving it there Friday. Guessing it will be more when they start to open it up. Didn't notice until tonight the rain gutter is broken. I'll have to dig my spare out. I hope it's not the one from the 442. If so I'll need another one.

The more I look at the nitty gritty of this car the more disgusted I get. I know we all get there some time or another so now might be a good time for a pep talk.
I paid about $1,500 to much for this car based on what I call Cutlass lust. I need to get the in 455 to reset my circuit. The 350 has the top bolts broken in the heads for the manifolds so they leak and the 2 barrel carb sucks. Plus oil leaks all over this motor. Can't wait to get those repairs done. I have a feeling I'll be in no hurry to pull the 455 back out. FYI it's the 442 motor.

Dropped the car off this morning. They will start it on Monday and I should have it back by Thursday if everything goes well. Had to dig out one of my rain gutters since the one on the car was busted up and duct taped. The one for the 442 is still in the car.

Got the car back last Thursday. Night and day with the quality of the top. I had to dig out one of my rain gutters due to the one in the trunk being broken on the right corner and duct taped. Then they had to scrape out all of the tack strip material which was unusable. $1,750 out the door but as usual McCoy's in Woodside did an amazing job. They installed the top the right way. The last top wasn't fastened to the middle of the frame and the padding had no cover. The top now goes up and down faster too.

Todo Tiza in Central Islip. Did BOTH my top and interior for $2600. Amazing job on both, get compliments all day long. You don't need to spend $3600 for a new top. Small shop, very clean, very friendly, just not a whole lot of English spoken. http://www.todotizaupholstery.com

Then I guess it's a good thing I only paid $1,750 & they dug out and replaced all the tacking strips.

Looks great! I guess I didn't see all the posts and didn't realize you had it done. I was getting all kind of quotes from $1800 to $3600. Love the color combo on yours.
