More hub cap issues

I recently changed back to my original 14' spoke hub caps for my 1986 cutlass. I bought the tires online and had them mounted at a reputable local shop. I can't remember if it has always been this way but the inside steel rim can be seen since there is roughly a 7/16 gap between the lip of the hub cap and the steel rim or tire. Is this normal? it appears that the new wheel weight is hindering the hubcap but they say it doesn't go on any further.... I almost remember the hub cap sitting flush but i could be imagining that. Does anyone has a picture of how their 14" spoke hub cap sits on the tire? thank you in advance.

Every hub-cap / wheel combo I've seen (besides the dog-dish type) leaves a gap between the hub-cap OD and the rim OD. Usually the balancing weights fit in the gap just fine without interfering with the cap from seating flush on the rim.

Do you have a photo of the weights and interference? It may be possible that the shop used weights that are too big to fit this gap.

The wire wheel hub cap should cover the entire wheel provided you have the correct caps for the vehicle... As for the weights, they should not have been an issue, especially with some of the new weights used today which are flatter by design...
