Antique store find

Rainy day here in my neck of the woods. So went to my favorite Oldsmobile paraphernalia hunting ground and these happened to ended up coming home with me.

Anti-tamper seals for tractor trailer doors. You loop the thin strip around like a tie-wrap and crimp the lead ball. It has to be cut to remove it.

As usual Joe P has it right. I used to work on the dock for one the local Montgomery Wards (another past brand) So I knew what they were when I saw them. Never seen anything like them in the past!

They still use these today. You can order your own and get them custom printed.

X3...yes freight seals...I was a trucker and also worked some train stuff, too. Old school, they probably don't look like that anymore!

True! We get our shrink wrap, tape and wire tags from them. I would like to think that repoping these would be terribly difficult due to copyright/trademark issues.

The Post Office used red seals like that on Registered Mail. Had to sign drivers receipt before cutting off, and escort it along with 2 other people to the registry care where the big walk in safe was.
