oldsmobile 1968 350

Hello, i have a 1968 oldsmobile cutlass with a 350 in it.
since the time has come to do a engine rebuild i would like too push the limits a little bit. i would like to keep the sbo due to lack of big blocks oldsmobile engine here in sweden(and if you find one, it's expensive as hell) my goal is around 400-450 hp. but since oldsmobile builds are rare here in sweden i turn to you people here.
does anyone have any idea how to reach my goals? i've never built an v8 engine before so im new to this.
it would really help me out if anyone have some inputs about what parts i should buy.

Thanks, Tobias.

Hello and welcome. Im from next door, Finland. For build-plan, doable, but others that have built such motors will tell more. Search also reveals alor if willing to read and take notes.

About heads. Those need milling to reach acceptable compression levels at performance build, and if i recall correctly, the misc parts on those heads arent best either. Some guys swap them.

Other option is speedmaster heads, cheaper than Ebrocks, and copy of the first iteration(?). Some guys sell those speedmasters done and checked over, like Bernard Mondello, who on the other hand went to complete radio silence when i asked for information to pay for them for a deal i thought we both agreed... And freight was on me.. Cutlassefi also sells them as done, i recall. These are by far the cheapest option for heads.

And third option of course is to refurbish and port iron heads. As your financial structure is about the same than ours, ported irons are going to cost closely around what new EBrocks costs.

Hey Tobias,
The good thing is you DO have options.
However the first thing you need to decide is if you’d be happy with 400hp or do you really want 450? Only you know the answer to that.
Next would be your budget. I can help with the right parts but then you still have machining etc.
Theres also a Stroker option, I offer Stroker cranks for small blocks. Lots to digest but in my opinion it’s good to have these options. Let us know which way you’d like to go, we’re here to help.
Best of luck in your project.

Let's just say it should produce atleast 400, everything over 400hp is just a bonus.
Machining would be no problem, the problem for me is finding someone with knowledge about olds performance here.
My budget would be whatever it takes to get there.
Stroker engine can of course be an option for me.
Thanks!

They’re fine. I’ve used or sold over 20 sets, no issues.
But for 400-450hp you may not need them if you use all the right parts, especially if you did a Stroker of some sort.
Let me know if I can be of help in any way. I’ve shipped parts and even complete engines all over the world.
