engineering-wise to me it is a really bad idea to run the entire weight of the rear suspension thru the shock absorber mount, unless you beasty it up quite a bit.

different is not equal to better.

Never been there, but thanks for the dates, I plan on going now!

A couple of stops on the Hot Rod Power Tour will have an auto cross, I have a feeling I may get hooked...

Full endorsement .. Plan for success .

Great looking frame / brake and chassis set up . There are a bunch of ways to really stand out at these Ultima Batteries events . I watched a fellow forum member go from being a mid pack competitor @ Elkhart to being invited to Vegas for the final event . He was a humble and gracious Mercury Cougar driver that had a full Trans - Am pro touring feel car that was well prepped ( like yours ) and just knew his car . Good times .
It is good you have some prep time . Just a couple of observations for being comfortable in this environment . Scope out you local SCCA autocross events . You will meet some great people , and find out some of the weaker points on mechanical , and driving points . AND , you will discover that you run out of brakes WAY before you run out of horsepower . I love your willingness to put yourself out there . Pull together a few key helpers and be ready to replace many brake pads and bleed a lot of calipers . Having a tow vehicle , key and helpers can also be a really good idea .
What else , I'd put out there . MAYBE I can make the trip to Las Vegas Motor Speedway the 24 - 26th of this month . Like 3 weeks away . For any of our Vegas members , might be a cool place to take some pictures for reference . I'm 4.5 hours away in Phoenix ..
Keep us posted . My Cougar friend made an odyssey thread of what he experienced , and perhaps you can do something similar .. Kudos Sir !
