My blown DX is coming apart for a freshening. Gonna need a torque plate for the new rings, and I can't convince momma that I need one @ $300-$500. Anyone here
have one or know of one for BORROW/LENDING or RENTAL? Not ready now, probably mid January. Anybody?
Was it done with a torque plate originally ? If not you might find that putting a torque plate on it will mean honing a lot more out than you planned. Around here I have a "network" of three or 4 guys I have known forever and we swap around torque plates and other crazy tools. Maybe ask around a few machine shops in your area ? Where are you located ?
I have 3 TQ plates..... for the 307, 350/455 and the 403. shipping back and forth would cost as much as making one.
to tell you the truth, using bolts that have the same depth of engagement as what you will use with a stack of washers will be pretty close to using a TQ plate. the 4 areas you need to be concerned about are where the cyl wall get pulled in in the bolt hole area. before i made my own plates, thats what i did.
