I don't know about a charger. They cool and stuff, but I don't like how they whine and drown out the engine noise🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Back in the late 1980's. I race a car in the middle of the night, from street light to street light. He was way behind. When he turned it on half way. Sounded more like very, very loud roar!

It might get to the point where you'd have to pay someone, in order to take an iron head, anymore. If Edelbrock were to cast one of these, along with offering a conversion kit consisting of the overhead cams and timing belt (or chain), this would render anything previous to the scrap heap. Unfortunately, these blocks are no longer in production of which would justify the cost of research and development . Unless of course, uncle Jay Leno springs for it.
To be fair, I have to post their link. The site is full of used parts. Believe it or not, they're even selling used pistons and camshafts. You'd eithe have to totally nuts or a hack job, in order to put together an engine with used items of this sort:

Today I was able to preview the new Edelbrock Olds head, here was my takeaway: Marks combustion chamber was a nice improvement. It looked like they were looking for more port volume, although the roof appeared not to be raised, but the floor lowered, maybe Mark can better explain this. I think the high end Olds builders will probably knock the guides out as well as the seats and weld up the intake floor of the short turn and raise the roof in high HP applications.

Our regular gasoline used to be rated at 93 octane, until they standardized it across the board to 95 (the excuse was to reduce refining costs needed for storing both. However, we had to pay the 95's price, despite.). I think, premium's at 97. But, I'm not sure, since I've never tanked any of it. There's also a super premium at, I think, 103. I'll go by and look, this afternoon. So, imagine having your Tuareg or Q5 running compressions that'll take real high octane.
If you bolt a set of heads totalling 40 valves a set onto an Olds block, you would no longer need a driver's license. Instead, you'd have to get a pilot's.

The octane number measurement in US and Canada (R+M/2) is different from that in Europe (RON).

The same fuel will measure 4 to 6 octane points higher in Europe than here.

The most common here is 91. If you want 94, that's in the city.
Then you got avgas. Which if you know some people, can by locally.
I run nothing less than 91 in my Audi.

But with all said and this being Marks thread, it's kinda wandering now.lol
Can't wait to see big builds with these new heads.

Mark, I would really like to hear more about the theories and flow testing that led to your modification and final design of the short turn radius, lowering of the port floor,and the pocket under the new larger intake valve.

Did you see a reduction in low lift flow and slightly more flow at higher numbers, vs. the older Edelbrock heads?

Unfortunately I’m not at liberty release that info at this time. They’re asking me to hold onto to that until further notice. Sorry.
And to be honest I’m not sure the info I have is ultimately what the end result ended up being. There was more than one casting made, I will tell you that.

I can't give you a measurement, but it was enough to lower the short turn noticeably.

The floor is lowered from the earlier Edelbrock Olds heads, which I can only think they were trying to gain port volume. You will be raising the floor and the roof if you are trying to make power with these heads. To answer your question: I use a caliper with the inside points removed and measure the distance from the deck of the head to the peak of the (short turn) or floor of the port, going in from the valve bowl. I can demonstrate this if need be.

Not sure how you can measure one floor height vs another without a head but.......
The backside port wall was moved to gain volume.

When the port volume is increased the HP RPM peak is raised. But making the short turn radius tighter is not conducive to flow. I will assume they didn't raise the port so there intake manifolds didn't need a redesign.

Rick Roberts and his team designed the combustion chambers a few years back. Notice the spark plug position to the valves?
