F headed 455

Next up, F headed 455. W30 intake has been modified to take both bolt patterns, as this is getting a Terminator setup.
After this SHOULD be Brian’s G block. Lots of issues with that one, but should turn out well.

How was your intake modified for both bolt patterns. I had to use a one inch spacer adapter quadrajet to holly that prevented me from using my ram air setup.

Cam is hyd roller with similar @.050 and lsa specs as a W30 cam, with a bit more lift.
Comp is 10.4:1 cuz he’s at 2500ft and I can play with timing infinitely with the Terminator.

Yes, he had two of them so he wanted to see if we could adapt this for the TBI.

I think it’s a OEM OLDSMOBILE W-455. The only reason I hesitate is I’ve seen some intakes labeled just OLDS W-455.

Sorry, I thought the OEM question was for me. Lol My intake is the one that says OLDSMOBILE W-455. I would like to find out if the full spelling of Oldsmobile instead of just OLDS means mine could be after market. I haven’t seen a discussion of this. Thanks again for your response.

Oldsmobile W455 is the original casting, then the mold broke where the Oldsmobile inscription is spelled out, it was repaired at that spot, and rather than trying to get the script right again, they went with Olds W455.

Thanks for responding, I did find discussion about this and that was brought up. Apparently that happened around the first of December 1969. That’s when the new casting started showing up.

Cool build and nice job on the intake mod. Will interesting to see what the Terminator X does on this one with a fairly aggressive camshaft.

Correct. The OLDSMOBILE script is early 1970 only. The late 1970 and all 71-72 intakes say OLDS 455. There are other easy ways to tell the aftermarket intakes, like incorrect fonts and mold marks where they have replaceable plates to switch the mold from 1970 to 71-72.
