Saw this beautiful 4-speed w30 at Englishtown today. I visited the car a few times in the pit area but did not see the owner. The car was stunning!

He has been some 12teens. Leaves real easy and granny-shifts. Runs on G70 bias tires. The car is extremely nice anywhere you look!!!

That's my W-30. Thanks for the post. I went a best of 12.13 that day. We raced at Atco the next day for the final race of the season. I've been racing with the SuperCar Shootout for several years. It's a FAST type competition. There's another Olds with us, a 69 H/O owned by John Suess.

Atco is a sea level track,how well did you run there....I have aluminum heads and a hd roller cam,Performer with a 750 holley and pretty sure I won't go 115mph. That car is set up right.F.A.S.T means using stock parts I thought. That goes to show if done right ya don't need aftermarket stuff.Nice job....Just seen your link to Supercar and the rules..thanks for posting.

FAST= Factory Appearing Stock Tire. I've got a stroked 455 with a ported intake and heads. I run the Ram Air Restorations iron exhaust manifolds through a Pypes 2.5 inch exhaust system and their Race Pro mufflers. The car weighs about 3950 with me in it.

The car's actually fairly quiet.

Feel free to visit us when we race. We usually hang out around Ralph's trailer. Talk to us and ask questions if you want to track down an owner or have questions about racing with us. There's no annual fee or anything you just pay at the track gate. I think it was around $30.00 at Englishtown that day.

If your car is fairly stock looking consider racing with us. You can race with street tires or headers the first time (unless you're crazy fast). At some point you need to go to manifolds and bias plys, but we're pretty flexible when you first start out.

Hey Scott, I see you sold the '69 "S". I'm not familiar with those manifolds---do they do any small block stuff? Greg Whitney keeps bustin' on me to bring my '72 out with you guys----and he really wants to get MPH like yours!!! He and I talk all the time and your MPH comes up every time. Way to spank that Chevelle!!! Wayne told me Aaron ran in the 10s with the '65 442. They need those manifolds you have and some G70s!!!

My 442 is barely on the road at this point. I'm a ways away from any racing but I surely plan to come down (to Englishtown at least) and take in the action. I was a fan of the FAST guys but they did not have any Etown events this year. I'm glad I stumbled upon you guys...it's very cool!

Dave good to hear from you. Greg (66 Chevelle) and I have a healthy competition going. Greg, Tom (69 Hemi Charger), and I are all really close and each run in the teens on a good pass. Greg got a 1.78 or 1.79 60' at Englishtown that weekend. Mine are in the mid to upper 1.80s.

Yep sold the Cutlass a half day after posing it on Craigs List. Still trying to move the 88. My neighbor is selling a 68 427 (390) Vett convertable and 80 Vett (350 crate engine). He want's $30K for the pair. Dave give me a call if interested and I'll introduce you.

Hey Blue442 , very impressive car and 1/4 mile times. I had a 70 W30 25 plus years ago, I ran in the high 12"s back then , they told me to instal a roll cage if I wanted to run that fast. Just wondering if you have one in you Olds? I didn't want to ruin the car so I kept it in the 13"s.

For hard top cars I think you need a cage at 11.49. Maybe your car was a convertable and I think when you run in the 13s you need one. You might want to take a look at the NHRA rules. Anyway, I don't have a cage. I'd probably put one in if it were a clone but didn't want to cut this car up since it's a real W-30.

NHRA tracks, rollbar (4pt I think) 11.50 for hardtops, 13.50 for convertibles. cage (not sure of the specifics, 6, 8 pt, etc) is 10.00. but obviously check the rulebook to be certain. quite a few cars in F.A.S.T. are running 4 or 6 pt bars


re: RARE W/Z manifolds. IIRC, they are visually the same on the outside, but the inside is larger, like the last few inches of the outlet. extrude honing would be better since it hits the entire inside of the manifold. Or for that matter, send a pair of W/Z to Gessler Head Porting. He'll cut them up, port the snot out of them making them darn near paper thin, then weld them back up so it looks like no one ever touched them. can do the same thing with an intake. however I'd recommend one of those taiwan made repro W-30 intakes since they don't fit right anyway. don't cut up an original. I think Wilson Manifolds can/will do the same thing.
