400 flywheel

Does anyone make a light steel flywheel for a 66 400. I don’t want to use an aluminum flywheel unless I have to. Thanks

Procomp/Speemaster But the balance isn’t exactly the same as the stock one.

I would go with one of the USA made McLeod, Hays, quality billet flywheels.
You want a company with a history of making quality flywheels and clutches.
They may even make custom flywheels I would contact them?

I’m a Hays dealer so I ordered one for a recent build. Guess what, it arrived in a PRW box inside of a Hays box, AND it was $40.00 more than it would’ve been had I bought direct from them.
Another note, ordered a $500 set of Hooker headers a few months back. The label on the side of the box said “Made in China”. That’s sacrilage. They, like others, are farming out the slower moving stuff to other manufacturers.

Unless you've shaved a bunch of weight and are road racing, you don't need or want a lightened flywheel.

Never understood the light flywheel theory. You need all the inertia you can get to get these pigs moving.

That motor is externally balanced so you will need to duplicate the weights from the OEM flywheel.

Nice flywheel. I looked it up on Jegs website. I may need one for a future project. I like where they list vehicles this fits. One model is the 1965/67 Oldsmobile 98.

I found one one eBay from Olds Rocket Parts. It’s billet steel, 22 pounds and $199. I’m sure it’s made in China. I talked to the guy that owns the company, Junior, who used to work at Mondello’s in the Joe days. Only reason I wanted o go a little lighter is so the engine would sound a little snappier.
