2013 Dick Miller Oldsmobile Open / PLEASE READ

Please read below and pass on to other Oldsmobile Enthusiasts. We need this event to continue. It would be a crime for this event to end. This would be the end of Oldsmobiles like it happened n 2004. Pass this on to other Olds sites and friends.
thank you and regards

Just a reminder to all. Unless the attendance increases dramatically this will be the last year for the Olds Powered Nationals. So bring you car. Bring your friends. Just be there. No excuses

It might help if he didn't put it on the same weekend as the OCA Nationals each year. For example if it were the weekend before, I could make one trip back east and go to both events.

Wow- you would almost think that would be common sense.

Yes, Dick Miller said this could be the last one if attendance didnt pick up. As for the OCA event. Bill Bader of Summit Motorsports Park picked the date for DM. The event changed due to the NHRA event being moved. In my opinion, I rather go to Dm than a OCA event. Tired of the politics, simplier to let your car do the talking at the track.

I have made the tow from Texas to Norwalk twice, and will do so again this year. Anyone at the ROP dinner Sat. night in 2007 or 2008 will remember the Tamales we brought!!

As far as the OCA race...I raced at Dallas at the " inaugural" race and at Bowling Green. Lots of us from Norwalk went on to Kentucky for the OCA meet that year. This year I understand the OCA race is Friday Night. Dick's race, though a great weekend is officially Sunday. I see no reason why someone can't make both if they are attending OCA race anyway. I can only make one and it will be NORWALK.

Just my thoughts

Danny

We'll be there.......Let's hope it's NOT THE LAST ONE!!!!!!!! Hate to see this great race disappear!!!!!

Anyone that has never been to one.........It is a MUST DO Oldsmobile event, hope to see all the regulars, as well as a bunch of first timers.

SEE YAH THERE!

I sure would like to attend, but 2000 miles of towing is a long ride.
If the lotto comes through I could see my way for a road trip.

Well, if it is why is it the "last" one?

JUST AN FYI! For any of you who are interested the Renegade Racing Association will be there running their street car style index racing along with the normal Saturday bracket program. This is a non points race so any of you who have a car that fits the rules can enter. They have 8.90, 9.90 and 10.50 index classes run on a pro tree. Come out and make a weekend of it. A lot of Olds guys come to race Saturday and Sunday. Here is a link with rules to check out:

I don't want to be a bad person "but" maybe the threat of it will make it a little more Oldsmobile fan friendly. I've been going since Joe Mondello had it and it use to be fun and more friendly. Last 6/7 years it's been separate clicks some of who act as if looking at their car may hurt it. Remember that you need numbers to keep this event going maybe trying to be more friendly may help keep attendance up. Just remember if someone is there it's because of a common interest, Oldsmobile's. Jmo, Ken

I've never gotten that vibe. I don't care who looks at my car. I've had guys crawl under it to look at different things in the past. I'll tell anybody anything they want to know about it. I'm just glad to see guys out racing Oldsmobiles.

We will not be attending. I can not expect Jok & his wife to pull my car out to Norwalk, too many miles and too many $$$$$ in diesel fuel along with lack of payouts. We will try to make Cordova this fall.

Maybe if some magazines would do some coverage it might help but otherwise its just another hear say event for orphan cars.
