I have a floor shifter from a 63' Pontiac GP that would have been a P N D S L R . Don't know if it is the same as an OLDs. I can e-mail you some pics of it if you woukld like to see it.

 

You're a youngster, I take it?
Until the mid-sixties most automatics had R at the bottom. Too many not so bright drivers were pulling the shift lever down meaning to be in drive and found themselves in reverse often with ugly results. Putting reverse up in the sequence seemed to be an improvement.

I also have a floor shifter from a 63 Grand Prix and it is very similar to the Oldsmobile shifter. The Grand Prix also has a ball like the 61 and 62 Olds.
