I need a secondary choke pull off for a 1971 - 4 barrel rochester
carburetor number 7041250
I also need the idle kick solenoid because it has A/C,
the intake is also a 1971 I think.
It is either 1971 or 72 intake not sure if that makes a difference for mounting. Any help is appreciated.

Unless I'm mistaken, a '71 didn't have a secondary choke pull-off.

OK, I understand what you're saying. The choke pull-off that you're talking about controls the choke as well as the opening of the secodary air valve, on top of the rear barrels. Some later carburetors have an additional pull-off mounted on the rear of the carburetor. This is referred to as the secondary choke pull-off.

that is the PRIMARY vacuum break, there is no secondary vacuum break on a 7041250.

if it is a primary vacuum break then it should be hooked up to the primary choke plate and it does not hook up to it. It hooks up to the secondary butterfly.

 

Rather than arguing about terminology, why don't you just take this as a learning experience from some people that have been dealing with this for a long time. We're not trying to make you look stupid; but, rather teaching you the correct names of parts. I know Bill Demmer is very well versed in these things and I too have been building Q-jets for over 30 years. The part that you seek is technically called a "primary vacuum break"; though, through the years, it has been referred to as a "choke pull-off". The part that FUN71 linked to is the correct one for your application. You will note that they call it the "primary" or "forward" vacuum break "Also known as a choke pull-off".

This "argument" is now going on on two threads simultaneously.

I place "argument" in quotes because you can't argue over obvious facts, such as whether the sky is blue, or gravity makes things fall.

This carburetor has one vacuum diaphragm located on the right front.
This diaphragm is called the "vacuum break diaphragm" in the Chassis Service Manual.
This diaphragm serves to break the choke plate when the engine starts, to prevent the secondary air valve from opening when the vacuum is too high, and to damp the opening of the secondary air valve when it does open.

If you can't see how the vacuum break diaphragm influences the choke butterfly, then you need to look closer. If you still can't see it, then someone else here who has this same carburetor may be nice enough to go out to his car and take a picture of the exact point of interaction.

First of all I think we should get one thing clear here. I am not arguing with anyone. I thought this was a discussion. This will be my last response to this thread from me. I have emailed Rocketman regarding selling me the vacuum break I need twice now and have not got a response.
