I have this part for sale but do not know if it is 350 or 455.

Any help from the group as to how we tell one from other?

That is cool. Brian, have been a great help in the past and I have not forgotten it.

I am sure there are enough to go around. No sweat on this end.

Can you post a photo of the one you have?
I would not care if the thread showed all the different ones and what vehicles they are for. I am only looking for one that is functional. I have one type that does not match up the the two different pipes I have.

Here's some pictures of the one I believe you need. I wrote on the back 1971, but I have a couple 1971 350's and they are different from this one. Brian, if you can verify this is or isn't correct for Carl's 1972 I'd appreciate it! John

John, that sure looks like the one in the photo (Lady-n-Rob's 350 photo). I think I see the small hole for the carter pin? As long as the bolt holes line up? I am with this.
PM sent.

Pacecar, please let us know. Are you needing a shroud like this one? Are you needing one for a 350 or 455? If for a 455 does yours have the R or T manifold or is this for the W/Z manifolds? John

I believe this is the correct one for a Z manifold. But I don't have an extra... in fact I'll need a couple more myself to cover the project cars waiting for attention! So if anybody has an extra one of these Carl gets first dibs, then Pacecar next. If any others show up I'd be interested in two more John

P.S. if all else fails Fusick has repop ones for $99 each pg 60 of their Cutlass/442 catalog.

As always Brian is absolutely correct (not that anyone questioned it), and John has confirmed that the cover in early photos is for a 350 and will not bolt up to a 455 Z exhaust.

Correction to post: must fit 455.
Thanks for all the work.

Exhaust Manifolds - What have I got

Sorry to take so long getting back to the thread. I know it is usually a story that a car did not come with the original engine but the original was located. My car had a 1969 350 in it but thru years the original engine stayed with the car. it as owned by a long time Olds collector and sold to a car collector here in Rochester. the engine had the correct #6 heads and its distributor. The 69 engine in the car was using the original carb and I always thought the original exhaust manifolds.

at any ratem the exhaust manifolds I have are RH - cast 398704 with a large number 4 at the end. the left hand manifold is cast number 411961 with a large number 1 at the end. Are these correct ? If not, what should I have ?

It is a learning experience as this is my first Olds resto. The assembly manual has been essential. Also in the engine assembly manual, what is my engine code ? It is a 350 4 bbl with TH350

thanks, Brad

Those numbers match the numbers off of the 2 manifolds that I have off of a 72 350 engine . Hope this helps out with your question.

Brad, you might want to create a new thread asking that question. The 1970 and 71 350 engines I have both have 380001 on the drivers side. But all these engines have been around 40+ years so I can't say for sure what is the factory casting for 1970. There are some guru's on the site who probably can, but you'll need a new thread to get their attention. John

Brad, your engine code is in the vin plate under the windshield glass on driver side. If you need the exhaust manifold cover? It looks like the one John has will work for you.
