66 delta 88 drums

Hi all,
I hope everyone is enjoying there summer.

i know everyone and their brother is looking for these but I thought I’d ask anyway. Does anyone have a line on used front and rear brake drums for a 66 Delta 88?

my second question; has anyone used the disc brake conversion offered by Caddy Daddy out of Napa, Ca.? If so, is it a good kit?

Thanks for the advice.

Scarebird

Scarebird has re-organized and is now out of North Carolina. That might be another source.

Get an original disc brake setup from a 1969-70 Olds full size. The aftermarket kits have two flaws. First, they use smaller rotors than did the factory disc brakes. This produces less braking force. Second, all of these kits with the flat plate caliper brackets fail to properly support the caliper from wracking on the rotor. This results in uneven pad wear and forces the caliper mounting bolts to carry loads greater than those for which they were designed. I've been underwhelmed by nearly all of these kits. You'll spend more money than it would cost to source the correct drums. At worst, get drums from Kanter.

Thank you!

Joe,
Thanks for the reply and the information.

I have looked several times on Kanter and don’t see Delta 88 drums……do you have a part number?

I’ve seen that you are very prolific and knowledgeable on this forum. All of us less experienced guys appreciate it!

do you happen to know anyone with a B body disc setup from a 69 or 70? I hear they are getting scarce too.

thank you again.

Pretty sure I have NOS drums. I’m out of town until next week. Shoot me a text to remind me to look when I get back. 618-554-4362.

That's disappointing. They used to list them. Try calling them directly.

Larry, I am Marty in LA. I am 99% sure that I have a pair of brand new in-the-box front drums for the '65-'66 Olds big cars. I also spied another used front one last night in my shed. Additionally I found a used rear off of a '65 Jetstar 1. Of note, I have the remainders of 3 parted out 1969 and 1970 Olds disc brake big cars. They were a '69 Delta 88 Royale and two different 1970 98 cars. Almost ALL of the disc brake stuff is there. Call me at (818) 704-0145 and we'll "talk shop". It is a regular old 1987 phone. Leave a message and a call back number. No texting stuff.
