Broken Console Bezel - automatic

HI, Strange request here. I have a 70 console that i'm customizing to fit a T56 transmission. Location is different than original 4speed. I have the console dialed in but melted my automatic bezel (need an automatic) while customizing it. Wondering if anybody has an old/ broken bezel that i could acquire? Know a good # of these used to break near the thin PRND21 area and i just need the longer front part. Chrome could be worn as i will be respraying anyway.

Thanks in advance,
Ed

Can you post a picture of the part?

Pat - He's referring to the "chromed" plastic insert found on a '70-2 auto console. The console woodgrain piece gets stuck to this "chromed" plastic piece.

I did a console for a T-56 and had the same problem with shifter location. Mine was 3" back from the Muncie position.

I called H&H Classic Auto, 614.284.6513, and asked for a continuous (uncut) woodgrain with chrome bezel. It took a few weeks for them to make another batch. Then they picked one out to send me before they sliced them all up into manual and auto varieties.

I made the cuts I needed and the console looked like it was born that way.

VC455. thanks for the pic. i decided to go with the "sicky" plate that has the stick in a location that is more rear mounting, so the stick is strait and not angled. I'm using the 4 speed mounting kit but positioning it almost where the automatic cutout area is. (pic attached) Because of this the automatic bezel is best (with some alterations). while "customizing" it, trying to flatten the piece, i became distracted and it melted it. (pic attached ... if you can't laugh at yourself then who can you laugh at...).

and yes, because i had to alter and add to the tunnel the console needed to be chopped. i was able to keep the storage area in tact. many hrs just on that alteration. 8(

70POST, yes you are correct it's the auto bezel.(pic attached). i highlighted the area i'm in search of. i have the burl sticker and dont need nice chrome since i will be altering it and respraying. another member sent me a PM so i might have something, TBD.

Thanks all,Ed
