Special Pilot Bearing - Automatic to Manual

Looking for a tapered pilot bearing sold by The Parts Place (out of stock), for installing a manual with an automatic crank shaft. My friend bought everything to convert to 4 speed not realizing he had an automatic crank shaft!

Those are "house" part numbers for order on vendors site (s)
If I had a longer legit part number from a bearing I may be able to source...

Good day

It doesn't go "outside the splines"

So the input shaft of the muncie the spline area is NOT what you want HOLE in the bearing to be..

For inside dimension of your precision bearing

What part of this is not clear? The bearing rides on the pilot part of the input shaft, just like any other MT pilot bearing. It's closer to the splines than the OEM bearing, but still in front of them.

I used one of these in my holiday coupe. The crank is actually very easy to drill into with some decent bits. I drilled a hole a little deeper than needed to allow the input shaft to go in far enough without cutting it off. Then the bearing sits in the factory machined area of the crank to keep it centered. Obviously, having the crank machined for the correct pilot bushing is the best solution but if you are installing a 4 speed and don't want to pull the crank this seems like a decent compromise. Only time will tell how it hold up.

Automatic to Manual

Regardless of how he gets the main drive gear (input shaft) to fit, advise him to also check the "runout" on the "register" hole in the bellhousing or scattershield that he is going to use. If it's not centered directly with the crank pilot bearing, you can have multiple issues.

Dick Miller has the bearings in stock, he's the only one to get back to me.
